The 10-bedroom estate, overlooking Coachella Valley, was custom designed the famous comedian and his wife Dolores by renowned Modern architect John Lautner.
The unique UFO style home, which was completed in 1980, was first put on the market in March 2013 for $50 million. But the property proved a tough sell, and the price was dropped to $34 million just nine months later. By December 2014, the asking price had plummeted to half its original listing, at just $25 million.
However, the new owner, reported to be investor Ron Burkle - worth an estimated $1.54 billion, snapped it up at a bargain $13 million.
The futuristic mansion is the most famous property owned by Hope, who was extremely passionate about architecture.
'If the Martians ever came to Earth, they would know where to land,' the legendary comic once said of his home.
Its interior is almost as distinctive as the outside, though one imagines that architect John Lautner had little to do with the bright and whimsical Rousseau-like jungle mural and trompe l'oeil greenhouse alongside the sheltered pool.

Well, it has some interesting angles, seems to really capitalize upon the views and isn’t entirely ugly. Looks more like an office building than a home, though.
Wow. Quite a place
this is magnificent
obunghole buy it?
The view with the pool is showing only one side of the house, but it looks like a golf visor to me, and of course, Bob Hope loved golf.
Wow, I had no idea. His home is gorgeous. It still looks innovative 47 years later, too.

And is just me, or does that place remind anyone else of the house in Forbidden Planet..?
Bob Hope was one of a kind.
Amazing Hope ......
1980? Looks a lot more like 1960. Heeeres George Jetson...!
The buyer Ron Burkle is an ass lib
Too cool for school! Symbol of an era that anything is possible without computers.
I could not take it oh so seriously really
When you called and said you’d seen a UFO
MOST of Palm Springs is LIB
I think the place is gorgeous, and great surroundings too.
looks like a maintenance nightmare to me since everything is probably a one-off. still, i guess if you can afford a $13 million home, you can afford a full time staff, including a staff manager and general contractor, cleaning staff, kitchen staff, maintenance staff, and a grounds staff.
I can see why it didn’t sell for $50 million.
