Dear Twitter, he posted. What is the song you most detest and despise? Thank you.
Within 48 hours, the bemused Brit, who had only around 1,000 Twitter followers, had received several thousand nominations from all over the world, and Lennons ballad was a repeat offender.
I think its the whole idea of talking about poverty and misery, while John was actually hanging around in his palatial New York townhouse, Carter tells The Post. Its the duplicity of the whole thing.

Got an opinion on this ? “Imagine” is far from the worst. Most of the stuff in the past 25 years could share “worst.” “Kumbaya” is execrable, “Give Peas Uhchanz” is another. Just because a song is overplayed doesn’t make it bad, either.
The worst song ever is every single rap song.
The best song ever might be Marty Robbins - "El Paso"
I forgot...
Don’t Stop-Fleetwood Mac
...the ‘92 election ruined that song forever.
Muskrat Love. Captain and Tenielle.
Imagine yoko and Hillary chowing down on each other like it’s Christmas
El Paso is a great song. Opening line grabs you, and at the same time you know that things aren’t going to end well.
Perhaps I should not have been so harsh with that song, so please accept my apology. I am surprised none of Neil Young’s stuff is on that list, as “Southern Man” probably deserves that, since it was so well rebutted in Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama”.
Wildfire is a very nice song with beautiful lyrics. It’s about a young girl’s beloved horse running away during a fire. Thousands of songs since then a lot worse than that.
Oh yeah, “Muskrat Love” gets my vote.
You’re having my baby. Paul Anka
AGREED!!!
Even as a child I balked at it.
The best version of “you’re having my baby” was the one by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir where they substituted the word “my” for “our”
And “They’ll be no snow in Africa this Christmas”
Oh really?!??!?! Gee, thanks for that weather update.
“Bette Davis Eyes” for me.
Imagine there’s no Lennon, it’s easy if you try.
Bang! Bang!
Revolution by the Beatles is the song I hate the most, followed by “Yes”, We built this city, just an awful, stupid song.
Hollywood nights. Barf
Revolution (the Blue album version, not the White album version) is an awesome song, though I try not to analyze the lyrics of many tunes I like.
“Hollaback Girl” has to be on that list. Not sure if it’s a No Doubt song or a Gwen Stefani solo song, but it exudes horribleness from every note.
