Designated Survivor - a new series based on the concept of a Cabinet member becoming President. Kiefer Sutherland is outstanding as new President Tim Kirland after the Capitol and top-level US leadership is wiped out in a bomb blast.
Expecting a show like that with impeccable leftist credentials not to attack Conservatives is like putting Anthony Weiner in a room with the girls from the 1st season of “The Facts of Life” and not showing them his pants candy.
One thing you can count on it won’t be Muslims.
He vomits into the sink, does that work for you? :-)
If he was secretary of HUD, the character is a good socialist. It will be a liberal fantasy show.
Gadzooks, Imp-- Just wait until they have the guy who did the bombing wearing an National Rifle Association t-shirt, a GOP Blazer or something pointing at Donal Trump deplorables.
That was my thought exactly, but I think the producers will leave it hanging until they see the reactions in social media. but their first and favorite culprit will be the Right, just as the Rigt is now the enemy on NCIS NOLA.
IMO Clancy's most boring book.
The book leading up to Executive Order, 'Debt of Honor' one of his best.
'Debt of Honor' was very timely. It was published at a time Slick Willy was in a trade war with Japan.
The book ends with a Japanese pilot flying his 747 into the Capitol during a State of the Union speech and killing all the Country's leaders.
Really good book.
Bull was bull.
Too pat and predictible from start to finish.

DS was good. I hope it maintains. The Kiefer prez is too much like some of the typical Hollywood prez’s. Kiefer certainly seemed to be leaning toward being wimpy — until the private meet with the Iranian ambassador. Maybe more of Jack Bauer will come through in future episodes.
Continuity of Government is predicated on sacrificing the continuity of citizens it purports to serve.
That is, The idea of CoG is that the government must survive at all costs even if that results in the demise of millions of its citizens.
As an aside, in a just world there would be no “Secretary of Housing and Urban Development”.
Don’t think I agree with you but I am interested in what you believe is a more favorable choice if something like this were to happen?
That I can heartily agree with:)
I have always thought that about the Veep. The Constitution dedignates the VP as the new POTUS so why he is not somewhere else at an occasion like SoTU has always puzzled me. Do the Veeps get such a big kick from sitting behind POTUS? Well aside from Crazy Uncle Joe...
Tom Clancy was prescient in many ways.
.....can remember but Jack Ryan makes an Awesome President.
My opinion was/is that HUD should not exist, nor for that matter several other cabinet-level positions, like both DOEs.
I was not and do not opine on the nuts and bolts of succession.
I am aware of his Constitutional office. My question dealt with POTUS & VPOTUS being within five feet of each other for 90 minutes every January. SoTU is made in the House Chamber and it is the Speaker’s role as host. The VP is ornamental as no vote of the Senate will be taken. Therefore prudence might indicate he be somewhere else.
It’s not a Constitutional requirement that the SOTU be a speech delivered in person to Congress. Washington started doing it as a speech, and everyone after followed suit.
