NBC is interrupting the coverage of the opening ceremonies ever few minutes for at least three minutes of really BAD advertisements. But then the opening ceremonies are pretty bad themselves. . . among the worst of the modern era.
How many of our Fellow Freepers are finding this as off-putting as I am?
Then the Brazilians used it for a huge propaganda push for the dire consequences of Global Warming, not even "Climate Change!" Good Grief. . .
Comments?
Out of curiosity, watched 5 minutes of the Opening Ceremonies. Then switched back to watching my DVD’s. Not impressed so far with the Olympics and now after reading about the GLOBALONEY BS - will stay away.
I’m thinking that the Puerto Rican delegation all looked like stoners!
;-)
I love Gotham. Looking forward to a new season in the fall.
I almost NEVER sit and watch TV exclusively. I have it on when I’m surfing threads here or whatever else I’m doing. It’s in my ear but not my eyes sop much.
Jaundiced eye? Absolutely. I know full well when I’m being fed garbage, which is most of the time.
You bring an interesting thought to mind: what’s the difference between flipping around the TV, and flipping around FR? As far as I can tell, the only difference is that one doesn’t post comments on their TV.
If your way of "staying abreast" is by watching TV news, then you are being misinformed. You get more complete news on the Internet. Like FR and Drudge.
Nope, no interest. Probably won’t bother watching any of the games.
I have a feeling that these Olympics will have some very low Ratings for NBC.
Am I alone in feeling like there is ZERO enthusiasm for this years Olympics?
I pretty much just watch KDramas now, once I got hooked on them, I can’t watch regular shows anymore.
I’m watching one now called “W”, and so far, it’s probably the best one I’ve seen so far.
Puleeze, my home page is Drudge and I've been on this forum almost every day since 1998 and you think I'm not informed because I also turn on the TV?
Thanks, you gave me a big laugh.
I watched “Spectre” instead. One of the best “conservative” movies ever — although, of course, it wsn’t advertised as such.
Bttt
2016 Olympics: "The SEWER Games"
Nope, you are not alone. I am not planning on watching any of the Olympics - just not interested anymore. If I do watch any, it will be by channel surfing.

I liked the artistic part of the opening ceremonies and I always love the march in.
So they did their stupid global warming thing. Don’t care.
Not me...I couldn't care less about this shameless exhibition of third-world trash.
The last olympics i really liked was Australia, Russia tried very hard to go over the top and had technical issues but i think they did pretty dam good though its nearly bankrupted them, China was definitely over the top and beyond, too much tech, flash and size, but fairly good, Britain had a pretty good opening, very well organized, they did good with a decent balance of history and performance.
I started to watch the Rio opening, it just did not wow me, went to bed, of course predictably NBC has screwed around with it.
All medals issued by international committees are allowed to award them based on intent these days.
For example, I cannot dive. If I could dive, I know it would be the best dive in the history of diving as my intent is to be the best diver in the world.
If the bullet dodger intended to dodge the bullet with a gold medal worthy performance, his status after the bullet rips through his cerebral cortex is irrelevant.
If you need another example, please see how our esteemed further, the 44th President of the United States, won his Nobel Peace Prize.
(Your political allegiance helps validate your intent ... I forgot that little tidbit)
