I transcribed the relevant part of the interview.
CUOMO: Who takes the fall for cribbing Michelle Obama's speech in 2008? Whose fault is that?
MANAFORT: Well, there's no cribbing of Michelle Obama's speech. These were common words and values that she cares about her family, that uh, that things like that. I mean, she was speaking in front of 35 million people last night - she knew that. I mean, to think that she would be cribbing Michelle Obama's words is crazy. I mean it's so, I mean once again, an example of a when a woman threatens Hillary Clinton how she seeks out to demean her and take her down. It's not going to work.
CUOMO: All I'm saying is the language is strikingly similar. I'm not making a big deal of it; I know everybody is talking about it this morning, but I don't think it's an allegation, it's not some suggestion without proof. I don't know why the campaign doesn't just own it and say people borrow phrases, that's what happened, and movie on? That's what, ironically, Obama did in 2008 when Clinton said he cribbed from Deval Patrick. He said, "Yeah, you're right, I did it."
MANAFORT: No, no he did do it. That's correct. But in this particular case, you know, there was a process certainly of collaboration that.. Certainly there's no feeling on her part that she did it. You know, what she did was use words that are common words, and to expect her to, to think that she would do something like that knowing how scrutinized her speech was going to be last night, is just really absurd.
CUOMO: Right, but again, that's assuming that it was Melania. I'm assuming that there were writers involved, but if that's the way you want to explain it, that's up to you. Let me ask you about something else.
Nice strawman there. I'm not talking about the NeverTrump crowd.
There's another group of traditional Republican voters who aren't quite convinced that voting for Trump is a better choice than third-party or write-in. Some of them actually believe there's too little difference between the Hildebeast and Trump.
They're the ones you and your kind turn off with your tiresome crap. And Hillary loves each and every one of you for it.
Anyone who did not bother looking into Rafael’s past speeches, and still supported him, is guilty of extreme negligence at the very least. Rafael is a very pliable career politician, if one bothers to study his past speeches.
Now wait a minute. You are telling I’m not voting for Trump. Who am I voting for?
I still don’t think it was a mistake. The media has spent the entire new cycle comparing Michelle and Melania. No way Michelle comes out as better. And I also think it was a trap into the Rickroll. I’m totally enjoying it. We also get to talk about all the plagiarism of the dems in the past.
Did you watch the rickroll on youtube? I can see in her eyes that she knows its coming. Kicks into an awesome commercial for Trump - a shout out to the twitter verse and 4chan and weird geeks that are in big for Trump and are sort of underground. They vote. They are not being counted or factored in. They hate Clinton. Some of them are Bernouts. (that’s my son’s term but he said I could have it.)
Anyone who speaks of a government as being “of the people” is clearly a plagiarist.
Has Michelle Obama responded at all? If I were her, I would make a statement publicly that I was “flattered” that a gracious, and beautiful lady such as Melania Trump echoed my words and that more people need to live by their shared values/sentiments.
No, it wasn’t long. There were comments about checking whether it was plagiarized multiple times on FR. Some speculated Michelle’s speech was plagiarized. I was looking that up because if it was, the media has to shut up. It literally took less than a minute to plug Michelle’s speech into that thing.
How out of proportion? I said Melania had nothing to do with it after the first statement referred to a team of writers. I have even said that maybe, just maybe, it really is a coincidence, but it seemed unlikely that there would be lines and structure that matched. Other FReepers said the same thing last night and this morning. It was a news issue all over the news last night and this morning. That was all the media was talking about. I was posting the campaign manager’s statement he gave on CNN. I didn’t write the title of the post which was from the video which I linked to. For the record, Reince himself as said he’d probably fire the speech writer.
I just never saw the rickroll. I felt like those are common lines that are said separate of the song. Rickroll isn’t as popular as it used to be on the internet. I rarely hear about it anymore. If she did do that on purpose, though, I think that’s absolutely hilarious!
Yes, I did hear a lot of that democrats plagiarizing on Limbaugh’s radio show this morning.
If this is the worst item found by democrat MSM so far, things are looking good!
Leni
You would make an excellent homicide detective!
You identified yourself as”us” when I referred to the Cruz holdouts. I didn’t start that.
Besides, anyone still unsure there is a difference between Trump and Hillary, yet calls themself a conservative or Republican, is either an idiot or has an agenda. If you’re now distancing yourself from that crowd, fine. But I’m certainly not gonna worry about the Cruz losers and kiss their ass. They’re idiots shilling for the Clintons Bushes and Romneys. F them.
This is not plagiarism. Those lines have appeared in that order in a million places.
That’s why people have discussed this hear last night and why I posted this. To me, it looks lifted. As I said in post one, there are some different possibilities with this. Media seemed to think, including CNN and MSNBC, that if the speech writer was fired, that would be the end of it. Chris Matthews even said he was going to find out who the speech writer is according one of the posts on FR.
Here are many famous people who have said your “word is your bond” including Miguel Cervantes, for cryin’ out loud.

No but I read those sources and your son is 100% spot on. If you search my posts today you can see I said it would not suprise me if Trump knew as he is the king “shit lord” and a master at dog whistling to the people on those sources. (See what your son says when you call Trump a “shit lord”)
Oh, give it up.
But national campaign co-chair Sam Clovis was less sanguine, telling MSNBC that the speech should have been run through anti-plagiarism software.
"I'm sure action will be taken inside the campaign to make sure it will never happen again," Clovis said.
Source to NBC:
"It's piss-poor staff work," a source within the campaign told NBC News. "Melania has been humiliated. No doubt heads are going to roll."
Lewandowski:
Trump's former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, who was fired after clashing with Manafort, said on CNN that whoever approved the speech should be "held accountable."
Reince Priebus said he'd "probably" fire the writer.
CNN also says this:
It's set off infighting and finger-pointing within Trump's campaign, and two sources told CNN that Donald Trump himself is furious about it.
Melania is the love of Trump's life. He absolutely adores her, and if someone did do this to her whether through error or on purpose, Trump would be furious. If someone did it to her, I'd be furious. She doesn't deserve it as all accounts and everything we've seen indicate that she is a wonderful woman. As Chris Christie said, 93% of the speech is different, and she read it well.
My father talked to me after work this evening that all he has heard about all day was "that damn speech." People on FR may not think it's a big deal, but the general populace is talking about it.
Trump: you work hard for what you want in life. That your word is your bond
Obama: you work hard for what you want in life; that your word is your bond
