Ted Cruz contemplates the unthinkable
Politico ^ | 7/18/2016 | Glenn Thrush

Still smarting from his loss in the primary, Cruz says he’ll use his convention speech to outline his own vision of the Republican Party’s future. But will he endorse?

One of these days, and maybe soon, Ted Cruz just might have to endorse Donald Trump.

But he’ll never concede Trump could have beaten him in a fair fight — and he’ll never accept that Trump’s me-first philosophy represents a sustainable future for the GOP. Above all, Cruz wants to use the big stage in Cleveland to present a non-Trump alternative vision for his party’s future, one rooted in constitutional conservative principles and competent campaign management modeled, oddly enough, on Barack Obama’s 2008 and 2012 White House runs.

“In this election I am where a great many voters are, which is that I am listening and watching and coming to a decision,” Cruz, the highest-profile Trump holdout heading into this week’s convention, told me when I asked him if he intended to throw his support behind the former reality TV star imminently.

He needs to be cut. He needs to be sent back to the Senate or more realistically, to the backwaters of Texas.

Revoke his speaking slot! His actions, especially those today, disqualify him from being able to speak!

He will endorse....but will express it as fulfilling my pledge despite my disagreement with the majority of Trump's method of engaging the voters

In other words, I'm endorsing....sorta....

Kick him out. He's a traitor to the party. He lost; Trump won.

Reminds me of the people who are self-professed Catholics but who support abortion, women as priests, homosexuality. Then WHY BE a Catholic if you disagree?

Cruz supports TPP, North American Union, CFR, open borders, unlimited immigration---then why be in the party that OPPOSES all those things??

Cruz looks more and more like a Benedict Arnold - his personal ambition exceeds whatever he seems to stand for.

Make a deal to appoint him to the Supreme Court. Senate would approve him to get him out of the Senate.

Ted? We’re over you. You’re like the bad boyfriend that won’t go away.

Next up? Stalking us.

And, Um...we’re armed, Dude.

A great many voters said “Trump’s our candidate”. Cruz is tone deaf.

What crap. Trump has made sacrifices to run, something he didn't need to do and wouldn't be doing if he didn't care about America so much. Ted is acting like a petulant child who can't believe he didn't win, because his daddy told him he was the anointed one, and it's his destiny. Whose the "me-first" person here?

Cruz will do the minimum required which is a backhanded endorsement of Trump. He won’t be campaigning for Trump and is already laying the ground work to run in 2020.

Total loose cannon who doesn’t understand the rough and tumble of presidential politics. Jefferson would have reduced him to tears. Although, if I remember correctly, so did three working-class guys outside of a Trump rally. Still one of my favorite moments in presidential history. Rush Limbaugh, an original supporter of the creep, was beside himself that Cruz would be stupid enough to engage this wiseacres!
