Drudge Report Highlights Free Republic in Fourth of July Layout

The Drudge Report is highlighting Free Republic in the top-rated website's Fourth of July weekend format change to a red, white and blue page layout from the Drudge Report's traditional black and white.
While most of the typeface is in blue, a select five conservative news/author sites out of over one hundred sites linked at the Drudge Report are highlighted in red:
Free Republic, Breitbart, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter and Mark Steyn.
The Drudge Report and Free Republic have ties going back to the dawn of the political age on the Internet in the late 1990s.

funny, when I went to drudge just now (11:40 am central), the five highlights were: CBS News, CNN, Free Republic, Michael Barone, and Ann Coulter.

The text is blue. If you click on anything on Drudge, the text will then turn red (when it refreshes or you come back)
He does this at Christmas with red and green.

He did NOT highlight FR. It’s a link that you have clicked on, so it’s a different color. Open Drudge in another browser and you’ll see it’s not highlighted.

There's been some ups and downs with regard to Drudge and Free Republic. Mostly ups. I personally met Matt Drudge (with a lot of other Freepers) on October 31, 1998 during the March for Justice event.
Good times. Glad to see the Free Republic is getting special recognition this weekend on the Drudge site. Many Freepers are here due to the Drudge link. Hopefully we get many new members and cleanse our site of some of the "defeatists" who have been polluting this forum recently. We need a new generation of optimistic conservatives.

click a random link on that page and then go back and refresh drudge and it will have changed color. Drudge isn’t giving any site special treatment this weekend.
