A Gallup poll released today, June 24, found that the majority of Americans believe euthanasia should be legal, with 69 percent agreeing that when a person has an incurable disease and requests euthanasia doctors should be allowed by law to end the patients life by some painless means.
The first time Gallup found a majority in favor of euthanasia was 1973. The percentage in favor of euthanasia grew from 53 percent in 1973 to 65 percent in 1990. [ ]
While 69 percent of Americans agreed that doctors should be allowed to end patients lives by painless means, only 51 percent of Americans said that if they personally had an incurable disease and were living in severe pain would they consider ending their own lives by some painless means.

Soon to be a mandatory Medicare treatment.
The American sheeple have just opened the door for that familiar phrase to be ushered in:
“For the convenience of the State.”
>>69% of Americans probably don’t know what euthanasia is<<
A theme park in Europe?
No; look at the name. It’s a summer camp in Asia (as in “youth in Asia”).
Would you say that death has become “wildly popular” among 69% of the people living in this country?
quote “when a person has an incurable disease and requests euthanasia”
the key phrase here is the above.
This is a far cry from what the title suggests.
The question as asked would include someone asking to be taken off life support or end other types of treatment and simply be allowed to take pain killers while they pass away.
I have no intention of being stuck in hospital at my end. Once my number is up (if given the time and the choice) I will choose to go home and LIVE out whatever time I have left in whatever way I choose and control the pain with medication until the end.
I know JR and many on this board disagree, but I will say only once what I deeply feel.
The decision to end one’s own life is the most personal intimate and decision one can make. It is between the individual and his/her God or god(s). The State has no business interfering with that decision, and attempts to do so is statism in its worse possible form.
The only individuals who should even be involved in the decision should be those who know and love the person involved — but the person is the final decision-maker. Strangera should butt out completely.
End of rant.
Interesting headline. Was thinking 68% of Americans would be gone soon and real estate collusion and corruption would collapse. Of course, everything else would too.
>>No; look at the name. Its a summer camp in Asia (as in youth in Asia).<<
VERY good.
We should offer it to college student liberals. But if we were successful all colleges would be empty.
OOOPS! I thought you said "Youth in Asia".
Accurate and eloquently put.
I have no intention of setting there and enduring excessive pain, mind numbing drugs, and putting my family through the pain of my suffering, not to mention the costs involved.
If my time is up, the wife and I have agreed that we will enjoy the time we have left, then end life as peacefully as possible.
These doctors and regulators that insist on excessive life-prolonging actions are not facing reality, that we all die, and deserve the same easing for life that we give to the lowest of animals. If it is against the law to mistreat a dog, causing unnecessary pain and suffering, why is it the law that people should have to go through the same?
They agree to a question posed on the telephone. That doesn’t mean that they would choose it for themselves or a family member.
This administration wants to force us to pay for euthanasia, abortions and sex “change” operations.
I believe in euthanasia for democrats .... just kidding .... just kidding ...
Well, if we properly classify Liberalism as a hereditary defect then there might be something here.
They are awfully expensive to maintain and only take away from society.
It doesn’t matter why, or whether or not the person requests it. A right to euthanasia or assisted suicide Immediately becomes a duty to do so.
When someone gets a certain diagnosis or condition, relatives and medical types will begin to view the person as “selfish” for wanting to live it to the end.
Heir will want the inheritance or to rid themselves of the “burden’.
Medical types will think you are wasting medical care.
No, we should never make euthanasia legal, because this first method Hitler used will be come fully expected.
You couldn’t be more wrong. The minute it is a “right” to choose euthanasia or assisted suicide, it will then be expected. Those who don’t will be seen as selfish.
I cannot think of anything more foul than a bunch of relatives subtly letting someone know that staying alive in their condition is selfish.
If you want to check yourself out, fine. Save up your pain pills like everyone else. But don’t put everyone else in the position that relatives and medical people will shame them into it.
Theres no way around it.
