The Obama administration is emptying the militarys Guantanamo Bay detention facility of avowed terrorists captured fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq, but several American service members languish in another military prison for actions on those same battlefields that their supporters say merit clemency, if not gratitude.
Among the prison population at Fort Leavenworth, in Kansas, are remaining members of the so-called Leavenworth 10, convicted service members doing terms ranging from 10 to 40 years for heat-of-the-battle decisions their supporters say saved American lives.
The very people who protect our freedoms and liberties are having their own freedoms and liberties taken away, said retired U.S. Army Col. Allen West, a former congressman and political commentator. I think its appalling and no one is talking about this issue."

Finally! An Article About Our Heroes Languishing In Leavenworth While GITMO Terrorists Go Free!
An update: John Hatley, originally given a life sentence, sentence was immediately reduced to 40 years, just had his sentence reduced down to 25. Hopefully, John will be released sooner rather than later.
Sgt. Derrick Miller, serving a life sentence with chance of parole in 10 years. Derrick is the only Soldier who has not received a reduction in sentence. He continues to languish in Leavenworth under a life sentence! We are hoping for a clemency hearing for Derrick and a reduction in his sentence. The disparity in Derrick's sentence is outrageous.
Imagine yourself in a "hot" zone in Afghanistan, ie, surrounded by locals who are not considered "friendlies" (let's be politically correct here, we must not refer to these locals as terrorists, God forbid!) and you observe 3 local men coming and going around your perimeter and then leaving and going out in different directions. Imagine you take it upon yourself, God forbid, to question one of these men and he tells you he is there to fix a water pump, then a generator, and he has no tools with him, would you be alarmed that maybe this man and his cohorts were observing the positions of your men? Can you imagine that Sgt. Derrick Miller was fearful for the safety of his men? Well Derrick was right to be fearful, because within 20 minutes of Sgt. Miller's gun going off in his altercation with Atta Mohammed, this "hot" zone where our Sons were surrounded was attacked. Due to Derrick's gun going off, the base went into 100% security and thankfully, all his men had changed their positions. And we did not lose one US Soldier that day.
However, Atta Mohammed, the local Afghan man who, along with his accomplices, were walking all around the perimeter where our Sons were positioned, observing where to lob the bombs for maximum fatalities, was killed by Sgt. Miller, and for that, the good Sergeant was given a life sentence in Leavenworth.
When I visited Derrick in Leavenworth, he asked me to ask the legislatures up on the hill if they would rather HE had just come home in a coffin. That haunts me to this day because Derrick believes the answer to the question is "yes".
In this war against terrorists, we have continually appeased the locals in their Afghan hellhole villages by betraying our own Sons and delivering them up as sacrificial lambs for doing what they should have every right to do, and that is protect themselves, their Brothers, and to act to save each other.
Thanks to the heroic actions of Sgt. Derrick Miller, many Soldiers came home from that deployment and they are free and safe and living their lives. As an American mother, I am so very thankful to Sgt. Derrick Miller for his brave actions and I'm sure the mothers of those lucky Soldiers who made it home all in one piece are grateful to Derrick too.
As the terrorists out of Gitmo are released, so should our Sons be released.
I've heard the argument that the terrorists were not given a trial so therefore we should release them. Well, lucky for them that they were spared the kind of military "injustice" that Sgt. Miller suffered. Oh how lucky they are!
I've heard the argument that Sgt. Miller was tried and convicted in a military court. Yes that is true, and what a kangaroo court it was. Two witnesses, both who changed their stories because one just wanted to go home and get married and didn't want to be prosecuted too, and the other witness, the Afghan interpreter, was promised a VISA to come and live in America, where he resides today, courtesy of the prosecutors of the United States Military, AND their sacrificial lamb of appeasement, Sgt. Derrick Miller.
Read the words of Sgt. Miller's attorney regarding this farce of a trial and the outrageous conviction of Sgt. Derrick Miller:

The betrayal of Sgt. Derrick Miller by the very military and country he was willing to die for to protect through 3 deployments is a disgrace. It is sick, it is twisted, and it has eroded the faith in the hearts of American mothers who raise American Warriors, that this military will cherish and protect their Sons as they risk their lives in service to their country.
Please make 3 phone calls today on behalf of our Sons in Leavenworth. Senator Inhoffe, who helped in the release of Michael Behenna, and Senator Cottton, who has served on this battlefield. Both of these men serve on the Senate Armed Services Committee. Congressman Duncan Hunter serves on the House Armed Services Committee and our military has no better friend than Congressman Hunter. He is a Marine and he understands what our military service members are up against in this war on terrorism:
Senator Inhoffe..... (202) 224-4721
Senator Cotton......(202) 224-2353
Congressman Hunter...(202) 225-5672
It is time for our Sons to come home. And we certainly don't have to worry that our Sons in Leavenworth would ever consider returning to a battlefield where protecting yourself and your Brothers gets you a life sentence in prison! Nope, they have learned that killing the enemy on this battlefield is not appropriate! No Sir, you allow them to shoot at you and you better not shoot back, you allow them to stalk you and devise their plans to blow you and your Brothers up! Now that is the proper military protocol on this terrorist run battlefield!
Please folks, just take a few minutes today or tomorrow before you leave for work and make 3 phone calls on behalf of our Sons in Leavenworth. Ask these 3 legislators, as the terrorists continue to be released from Gitmo, ask them to advocate for the release of our Sons from Leavenworth. They were willing to die in their efforts to keep us safe. Please, they need your voices, and they deserve our support and our advocacy on their behalf.
Thank you again!

Please notice when this article was published. March 26th!
Did you hear ANYTHING about the ‘Leavenworth 10’ heroes who are still in prison while the worst of the worst Islamic Terrorists are being released from GITMO??
Please join me and make those three phone calls as soon as you can. If just 25 of us make those calls, leave a message if necessary it could make a difference. Thanks!
A Florida Freeper ping here, and thanks for your help in bringing our heroes home!
Unbelievable! Come quickly Lord Jesus and delivery us from this treason at the highest levels...
America first!!!!
You think Obama gives a damn about these soldiers? You know the answer already.
The Pervert in Chief is busy pardoning drug sellers and illegals---he doesn't have time for our troops
Curious as to why we should have to call those three Senators. Seems to me if they are the representatives of the people they are alleged to be this matter wouldn’t need to be addressed to them.
They should feel the outrage as much as any of us.
President Trump should pardon all 10 of them, by name, in his inauguration speech. And then accept the resignations of 10 Obamaite generals and admirals.
Free these men now!!
Bttt.

Reads like an omitted-details story.
Whether we like it or not, truth shows the good, the bad, and the ugly about everyone. Omitted-details stories do not particularly move everyone into summary action.
Bush put them in that spot and he wouldn’t defend them. All he had to due to was order the liberal JAGs to stand down.
Does this really surprise anyone..???
Absolutely.
I have written to him several times. Just cards and wishes for his fair treatment...
I will write the three listed...3 stamps is nothing compared to their sacrifice and I believe even more effective.
It is a shortened version...it was prosecuted as rules of engagement...they must shoot first!
The troops involved were not allowed to testify that their lives were saved by the action.
Is this the only missing detail?
