Brian Cornell, the chairman and CEO of Target, took several questions from disgruntled audience members at the annual shareholder meeting on Wednesday concerning the retail giant’s stance on transgender bathroom and fitting room access.
Justin Danhof, who heads the Free Enterprise Project and was in attendance at the meeting, asked Mr. Cornell whether he believes those who oppose the company’s stance are bigots.
“Didn’t answer the question,” Mr. Danhof said of the business executive’s response. “He gave a vacuous statement on, ‘We believe in diversity, we believe in inclusion, and everyone should feel safe in our stores.’”
“‘Support inclusivity, support inclusion’ – it means nothing. It’s meaningless,” he said. “Especially in response to questions asked very pointedly about do you think these people are bigots. And my impression is that of course he does.”

From a pure marketing view:
The large majority of your customers are women.
Your women customes do not feel safe.
Therefore, they will go elsewhere.
The CEO will be replaced.
The assumption is that everybody using the ladies room will be an honest gentle person, without an evil thought in their mind. The reality is that the world is populated with evil, dangerous predators. These people WILL take advantage of this situation. Maybe not tomorrow or the next day, But as sure as the sun rises in the east it will happen. The question that should have been asked is “Will you assume personal responsibility for ALL sexual assaults that occur in Target restrooms?”
And for added insult to injury, I hope you were a woman using the men’s room.
I might have been mistaken for someone that didn’t belong there.
I always kept my hair short and my face shaved until my Mom passed.
After that, I look like I’m going back on the road with the Dead as their lead guitar player.
Oh yeah - the CEO will leave with a 70 million dollar bonus and guess who picks up the tab for that - the end user - the 30K per year soccer mom and unemployed dad
We need to get tee shirts for guys to hang out at Target that say, “I’m only here to use the Women’s Room.”
Getting fired will earn him a golden parachute. People at his managerial level love to get fired.
Well We would stop by Target I would say 2 times a week. Prob spent between 250 350 a month... We havent gone into a target since... There was no huffing or puffing or chest thumping.. .. when we said, oh we need this and such... Target ? Nah lets do wal mart ... there was no hysteria, no panic, we just said... Meh, lets do wal mart. I imagine many many other just say... meh! Lets go to wal mart.
Offer bathrooms.
No gender, or sex, or “identifies as,” etc.
If you want to go to the bathroom, go in a private room and do it.
This poor businessman (businesswoman) is caught in a strange cultural situation. His/her job is to maximize profits for shareholders.
Cost - higher than a shared men’s or women’s room.
Business success - priceless.
Target is evil.

I’ve seen several Target ads on TV recently. I don’t remember seeing them before.
I took the pledge. A Target is coming to my town in the fall. I won’t be shopping there.

As I sit in the fitting room yelling out “There’s no paper in here at all!” “No hole in the seat either”
Customers should bring in their dog waste bags into Target, and leave a pile in the dressing room with a note: “I was afraid to use the transgender bathroom so I went in here. Sorry— couldn’t hold it any more.”
