Kimbo Slice has reportedly died at the age of 42, though no reports have been confirmed.
The MMA fighter — whose real name is Kevin Ferguson — was hospitalized in Florida Monday due to a “dire” medical situation, TMZ reported, and several sources on Twitter now claim he has died of heart failure.

I watched that backyard fight documentary on Dada. Some of those cats got hurt real bad. Kimbo and Dada fought their way up. Thanks for the link.
That got me thinking, I was watching Shaq last night on the NBA post-game show, and he’s gotten really big. I don’t know if his heart is going to hold out much longer if he doesn’t lose some weight.

I remember Andre The Giant... been a L-O-N-G time since I watched fake wrestling.
I thought Kimbo was going to have a heart attack during the MMA fight against Tank Abbott a few months back.
Oops, fight was kimbo v. dada, not tank abbott.
Heart failure is common among those who bulk up too much, with or without steroids.
The cardiovascular system can only support so much and muscle requires far more resources than fat tissue.
That said, the accumulated toll of past injuries may have played a role.
MMA should be banned. The damage done is becoming harder to refute. Pro wrestlers and MMA. These people die young, rarely reaching even their 60s. Whether it is steroids or drugs or blows to the head, these “athletes” are dying faster than football players. I say ban the sports.

Of course I wonder if this was ultimately caused by his last fight, they say he nearly died in the hospital after that.
If so, what a shame, a life lost due to a silly circus side-show style fight that never should have been put on.
My comment is that I am not going to comment about someone I know nothing about. That is the most intelligent thing I could say, I believe.

Slice was scheduled to fight again on July 16 against Thompson, so I am not sure if this occurred during a training camp perhaps, but I don’t think he would have been cutting weight yet this far out.

Kimbo was a better man than Ali. And Kimbo was a horrible man.
Lots of the old time bodybuilders lived normal length lives, even though they used a bit of steroids. Bodybuilding only became deadly when steroids were overused and other things, like HGH or insulin were incorporated.
Athletes are about the Here and Now they don’t care about reminiscing about how great they were or especially how great they might have been.
