I know at one point they were using pig hearts for transplants. One of the explanations was that the genome was similar enough, even more then monkeys if I remember correctly. I’ve always wondered if that was why God told the Jews not to eat pork, because it could lead to long term complications similar to that disease caused by canabilism.
