Multiyear, peer-reviewed study found low incidences of two types of tumors in male rats exposed to type of radio frequencies commonly emitted by cellphones
A major U.S. government study on rats has found a link between cellphones and cancer, an explosive finding in the long-running debate about whether mobile phones cause health effects.
The multiyear, peer-reviewed study, by the National Toxicology Program, found low incidences of two types of tumors in male rats that were exposed to the type of radio frequencies that are commonly emitted by cellphones. The tumors were gliomas, which are in the glial cells of the brain, and schwannomas of the heart.
Given the widespread global usage of mobile communications among users of all ages, even a very small increase in the incidence of disease resulting from exposure to [radio-frequency radiation] could have broad implications for public health, according to a report of partial findings from the study, which was released late Thursday.
A spokesperson for the National Institutes of Health, which helped oversee the study, wasnt immediately available for comment. Earlier in the week, the NIH said, It is important to note that previous human, observational data collected in earlier, large-scale population-based studies have found limited evidence of an increased risk for developing cancer from cellphone use.

So get your phone away from your pet rat immediately!
And Apple wants to take the cheap headphone jack out of their phones. Just what you would expect.
Really. I didn’t hear that.
A number of respected researchers have also questioned the study.
Interestingly, the rats in the control group did not live as long as those exposed to the radiation. This makes the results suspect because it is well known that longevity contributes to the likelihood of cancer (greater age = more cell divisions, roughly speaking.)
Should the headline have been: Use Cell Phones, Live Longer? It easily could have been, based on the outcome of the study. But that doesn't sell newspapers.
Government found that color TV caused cancer....
If you sat 6 inches away from the screen 24-7 for 1,240 years, you could develop cancer...
Unless she's female. Then she can keep using the phone, according to the study.
Right. Because Apple wants to kill their customers...
For years my former boss made extensive use of his cell phone and eventually was diagnosed with brain cancer that he still fights. He keeps his head shaved to accommodate telemetry leads that are frequently used so the scar over his right ear is quite visible—and has the exact shape of the top half of a Motorola flip phone.
Unless you want to keep him longer.
[In the study, the control group died younger, on average, than the group exposed to radiation.]
As a side note to this thread, please consider the following.
Although we need studies like the one referenced by this thread imo, it remains that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to tax and spend for such a purpose.
We need to do inventory on the long-negelected Constitution so that such studies can be done within the framework of the Constitution.
I think this calls for legislation. All rats should limit cell phone use to emergency calls only. No more texting for rodents! #ratlivesmatter
Nowadays everyone is into Texting.
I’m looking for an uptick in Fingertip Cancer.
This was AFTER exposing rats to 9 hours of concentrated cell phone radiation for 2 years non stop.
I’m still scared for all the dihydrogen monoxide in the drinking water supply here.
What about cancers in other parts of your body. Like if you wear your cell phone on a clip on the waistband of your pants? It’s not on all that time but is it sending out ‘ whatever’ into your gut?
Spelling Cancer is much worse.
Any studies on Ear Cancer?
How about Genital Cancer since Men usually carry their Cell Phones in their Pockets?
Women would only have to worry about their $300 Purses succumbing to Cancer.
It’s information from a Government study, so it has to be true...
I mean, a Government study is how Global Warming was uncovered, wasn’t it???
Global Warming was invented from failed Global Cooling.
I think Time Magazine put out the front money on that.
That’s rich.
