The top choice for Trumps VP

Posted on 05/08/2016 1:55:12 PM PDT by MagillaX

First off I don't believe waiting for the convention to announce the choice makes much sense. Way too much work to be done to wait around.

Putting personal opinion aside the best candidate for VP is Rubio. A few reasons here.

First choosing a black VP to swing the black vote. We have past experience on this, Mike Steele when he ran as senator and more recent with Bernie and Hillary. Even though our hearts would like to see the black vote swing it is entrenched and continues to vote Hillary. The risk to benefit is not a good one

On Rubio and his natural born citizenship, who cares it would be a distraction for the Democrats, they would insult some of their supporters and even if the lawsuit won by then the election would be over and Trump would be president.

On a women as VP. Do this if you want to make the election to be entirely about women, diminish Trumps issues, take a chance that an unknown will mess up, take Melania out of the spotlight and give Chris Matthews something else to think about.

Now Trump and Christie have a good look together but I don’t see how he helps expand his voting block.

On Rubio and amnesty. Trump could appoint Vicenti Fox as his VP and still win on that issue.

On Cruz, this would help heal wounds in the party but brings nothing else not sure this is enough, and Rubio would do the same.

Rand Paul’s name came up and was my first pick for President for me but he underperformed big time in the spotlight and trump already owns one of his major issues the wars in the middle east.

Kasich gives him help in Ohio and wont hurt Trump in the election, will help in governing, but offers nothing else.

Back to Rubio, first I am not saying I agree with all his policies, I don’t, but this is about winning and stopping Hillary. Having Rubio on board negates all the negative publicity the republican party put out on Trump, putting it out as only politics the real Trump is (right your narrative here). The Hispanics who do swing vote are inclined to rethink their vote. Rubio has performed well in the spotlight no surprises. This could be a huge shift for Trump with Hispanics. Also Rubio has ties to Mormons which can be helpful. Then Trump can focus on whats left, like women voting issues; jobs, safety and and end to war and affordable healthcare. And how Hillary has not.

The scene about sodomy with a little boy was, I believe taken from “Fields of Fire”, and in no way indicated that Jim Webb was interested in the concept, only that it was witnessed, and that the character who engaged in this act was in no way an object of sympathy. It was war, this happened, just one of millions of acts of human beings behaving badly. I truly believe that no one is more anti-war than someone who has experienced it up close and in view of its very worst aspects, and this was but one very bad aspect of life in wartime conditions.

So far as saying nasty things about “true” conservatives, just what does “conservative’ even mean any more?

Jim Webb’s military service was the equal in honor to many of the young boys who stormed the Normandy coast in 1944, scaled the cliffs, and rallied in the forests of the Battle of the Bulge, in the bitterest winter Europe had known in decades.

John McCain was perhaps at best an only mediocre aviator, who had the misfortune to be captured by the enemy. Any degree of heroism he displayed was from that time while in captivity.

>Wtf is wrong with us to say Trump should choose a democrat as a vp? You really want democrat president Webb if something happens to trump ? What a slap in the face to 12 million republicans who voted for Trump

Trump's already ruled out a Dem VP. Not sure why people are still bringing it up.

I would pick a woman CEO of a large corporation.

If you’re going to run as an outsider, then run as an outsider.

Your post was spot on, Stayfree!

I agreed with everything you wrote...and wish to add my sentiments to the idea of a woman Veep. This would send out wrong messages in a variety of tangible and intangible things too lengthy for me to type out at the moment.

I prefer several candidates over J. Webb. The one advantage Webb has is that he is popular in Virginia and would help carry the state.

A very conservative person from California? Well, Congressman James B. Utt is dead, but Duncan Hunter is alive. I think California is out of reach...need to think about someone who will help nationally.

1. Rubio is an ineligible anchor baby. The democrats can toss him with no shenanigans.

2. Rubio launched his senate run pandering to racial supremacists. Republicans don’t need any of that ilk.

Trump said he wants someone who is a worker, Rubio didn’t even vote most of the time he was in the Senate.

Rubio is pro-amnesty and he called, Trump, “a con man.”

Also, Rubio couldn’t even win in his home state, so how does he help Trump if he were on the ticket?

I will say that I like Marco Rubio more than I like Ted Cruz, but I don’t see compatibility between Trump and Rubio at all.

Without Jim Webb’s vote for Obamacare, it wouldn’t have become law.

It’s going to be Sessions. Everything else is theater so people will support him over the possibility of being VP.

How about General Carter Ham, Who was relieved of command for attempting to rescue our people in Benghazi?

Every time he is on stage or before the Camera, the rape and execution of Ambassador Stevens is automatically a legitimate topic.
