In 28 years with the Nebraska State Patrol, Trooper Bill Price said he's never encountered a car like the one he stopped Thursday afternoon.
The car was completely made of wood. Yes, wood. Cedar to be exact.

Built on the frame of an 85' Pontiac Fiero.
I didn't know any of that garbage had survived 30 years.

I’ve seen recumbent bicycles made out of wood, and like this car the workmanship was incredible.

No license plate or inspection that I can see.
Not street legal so he gets a ticket.

Wonder how well a radar gun works against it?

Not street legal so he gets a ticket. Naw. Article said he had a rear plate and didn't get a ticket - I'm assuming because it was registered in a state where you don't need a front plate. Wish mine was.
I don't think anyone could ever market the thing, though - it would have to pass crash standards and there's this, ah, splinter thingy... :-(

Not every state is a fascist police state. Here, we have no front license plates, no inspections, and (AFIAK. I’ve never tried, but I’ve seen the option on some DMV forms.) the option to register self-built vehicles.

It made the news, and made the troopers laugh.
Well done to both of them! There was a picture floating around of both the trooper and the owner standing by the car and smiling.

When it expires, you will see flashing lights and generate revenue.

Nice looking ride!
Stupid article:
“The car was completely made of wood.”
Who writes this junk? Sounds like a sixth-grader.

How dumb is this writer? I just glanced at the picture, and I see a glass windshield, rubber tires, leather upholstery, plastic hubcaps. It’s the BODY of the car that is made of wood, not the car itself.
