With apologies to Islander7, but I haven't seen an Occasional Birdy Thread in awhile, so I thought that I would post one. My pictures aren't as great as those posted by Islander7 or fidelis, but it's kind of like singing. All that you really need to do is to sing (or take bird pictures) well enough to entertain yourself.

Nice! My own birdwatching has been sharply curtailed while the libtards argue about how to repair a 100’ breach caused by Hurricane Sandy in the trail at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. It’s been 2 years and they are still “in committee”, the morons.

Not my photo, but in fly tying, we use the feathers of the Golden Pheasant:

Nice. Even though it’s not as “up close” as some of your others, I think that I still like the barred owl photo best.

Barred Owls are mean....they kill Spotted Owls....and ultimately....economies.

I’m surprised that bird hasn’t been renamed the Golden Trump...maybe after the election.

Took this picture of a nesting blesshuhn in Berlin today during a walk with my daughter on my Birthday, shortly before a hailstorm. :)

Those are VERY good!
Here's one I took of a shrimpboat and some gulls following it. (Can't compare to yours, but anyway...
By the way, Corpus Christi, Tx (where I live) is winner of the 'birdiest' city in the U.S for several years

The red winged blackbirds have been devouring the suet I put out. Last lear I went through about 1 suet cake a week. So far this year, they don’t last a day.

Nope. Just used their head feathers to dress up a steelhead fly.

Yeah. In my quest for superior tying materials, I ended up raising lots of different pheasant. Some will try to kill you, others are docile and almost friendly. Goldens are skittish and amazingly loud.

I have about 20 Harry Lemire tied steelhead flies. I have them in petri dishes around the house. His widow gave them away to WSF club members. If you know what I’m talking about.
