PIKE COUNTY, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) The mass murder that left eight members of the same family dead, unveiled marijuana grow operations at three crime scenes, according to the Ohio Attorney General.
Those were Mike DeWine's final words at a press conference for an update on the investigation of the "execution-style" deaths within the Rhoden family in Pike County, about 70 miles south of Columbus, on Friday.

Doesn’t bother Mexican cartel hitmen a bit to shoot a mother next to her 4 day old baby. That and worse happens routinely in Mexico.
They’re back in Mexico, collecting their wages for a job well done.
County Sherriff Reader reiterated to the public that he doesn’t feel it’s a larger issue of public safety since one family was targeted, but added if anyone were to feel unsafe, they should “arm themselves.”
Maybe it’s just me being a jerk, but did anyone else detect a note of condescension in his remark?
Duh, thanks Sherriff, we hayseeds never might have thinked that, if’n you didn’t say it....
Hmmm. Not often you hear the police say that..
Sounds like the Cartels have gotten pretty attached to the US pot market.
Sounds like they consider honky competitors as UPPITY.
If robbed it was Leroy.
If not robbed it was Jose.
Would be my guess.
Mexican cartel would kill the baby too, that's how they roll. The fact that they left the young children alive means it was a professionally group. Kill the adults because they are witnesses leave the kids alive who are too young. I'd bet on a drug dealer rip off gang or a drug partner upset with them.
Were these Ohio folks competing with the Mexican produced grass? That makes a lot of sense then.
Many mobsters ran their business out of Italian restaurants for decades and they were completely legal and legit... : )
...with guns traced back to Fast and Furious. Thank you Eric Holder.
Crimes like this don’t happen in places where marijuana is regulated more like alcohol.
Baloney. Drug crimes are committed EVERYWHERE.
I think someone did not like them taking over territory. I have a feeling there will be a Kentucky origin of this tragedy.
Drug cartel?
I wonder if this crime will ever be solved, because it appears that the murderer(s) deliberately took our everyone who could provide the police with information explaining motive and identifying suspects. And even if there is anyone left alive with that information, they may be scared to talk.
Sounds like Harlan County...ie “Justified”
What’s with all the dog kennels? Also, it looks like the dead grass areas are where dogs have been kept on chains. I thought from the get go this would turn out to be drug/gang related.
There were four crime scenes. Unless the killer's a real pro, it seems pretty unlikely that he didn't leave *something* behind somewhere. Of course it'll depend on how good the investigators are around there.
Dog fighting is my guess.
four crime scenes means 4 to 5 chances to have caught the perps on some video camera around the area going to each seperate place
My guess is that the tent looking things to the left of the trailer house roosters for cock fighting.
I also got inkling of drugs or something rough when I saw the makeup of the women.
