The USS Harry S. Truman is celebrating the work of its crew after setting the record for ordnance dropped on ISIS. The Truman launched over 1,118 ordinance pieces against terrorist targets over the past five months, surpassing the 1,085 dropped by the USS Theodore Roosevelt's pilots in 2015.
The Trumans Carrier Air Wing 7 flew 1,407 combat sorties and dropped over 580 tons of ordnance on the Islamic State.
Since our arrival in the Arabian Gulf, the Truman Strike Group has been conducting operations around the clock, Capt. Ryan B. Scholl, Trumans commanding officer, told a Navy journalist. This deployment is busier than any other Ive seen. Every Sailor is doing great work individually and executing as a combat team to reach this milestone. It is due to this dedication as a combined force that Truman is making a significant difference fighting for our country.

“1,118 ordinance pieces against terrorist targets over the past FIVE MONTHS”
We dropped 18,000 +/- PER DAY for the first few days of Desert Storm.
Glad you posted this.
Is this all the different types of ordinance the plane is capable of carrying or
is this plane capable of carrying all of this ordinance at one time? Just curious. This is one of my favorite pics.
From what the AF Times seemed to say it is the full load out if configured to its maximum, but some one might have a better answer - just a guess not to be taken as gospel.
Mecca? Medina? Where’s Harry Truman when you need him?

Woowww, What a slam...
You just totally trashed this article.
That’s what its all about. Get some.
We dropped around 1,118 a DAY on the Taliban and Saddam...
At least we aren't carpet bombing them. /s
That’s correct...
Doesn’t any more than 1 bomb on ISIS beats Obamas past record
Or they only have enough planes/parts for limited action.
So many Communists (mostly in this country) and Muslims...so little ordnance.
And that’s not counting the ALCM, SLCM or GLCMs!
Blackhorse, Sir!
Obama has held our hands back in bombing ISIS. So it would not take much top break the record.
Launched? That sounds like they were launched with aircraft. It's likely over 70 percent of the aircraft returned still holding the ordinance.
It probably works out to about $5 million per humvee destroyed - which were originally supplied by the US and then taken from the Iraq Gov’t when Obama pulled out.
Yup...terrorists have kids too.
Show me a bomb that ever fed a hungry child.
I’d like to see the BDAs (Bomb Damage Assessments) too.
7.5 bombs a day? God, that carrier has got to be utterly exhausted and the planes worn out. Lucky they never asked the guys in WWII, Korea, Vietnam or Desert Storm to keep up that kind of pace./s
And the silly bastards brag that it’s a record. Our pussified military leadership at work again.
65% of all ISIS sorties return without attacking a target
Given the small amount of ordnance expended, our pilots are landing back on the carriers with full bomb load outs which is both very dangerous and very hard on the planes. Imagine what would happen if an FA -18 had a landing gear failure from repeated over stress of landing with full bomb loads and crashed on the deck of our newest super carrier with a full load of bombs on its bomb racks
This has to be demoralizing for our naval personnel
“And thats not counting the ALCM, SLCM or GLCMs!”
Thanks a lot, now I’m going to have to find out what all
that means. Sounds like a good read though.
