Given the small amount of ordnance expended, our pilots are landing back on the carriers with full bomb load outs which is both very dangerous and very hard on the planes. Imagine what would happen if an FA -18 had a landing gear failure from repeated over stress of landing with full bomb loads and crashed on the deck of our newest super carrier with a full load of bombs on its bomb racks
This has to be demoralizing for our naval personnel
Not a good thing for life at sea. The noise from exploding bombs on deck can easily disturb the sound track of the wonderful movie being shown on the hanger deck!
I remember hearing that it was SOP on some carriers during WWII to never bring live ordinance back aboard. It would be dropped at sea if not expended on a target.
