Prosecutors in Palm Beach County, Florida announced Thursday that a potential criminal battery case against Donald Trump's campaign manager is dead in the water, calling into question the version of events presented by a reporter who filed the criminal complaint.
One witness told police his eyes were fixed on Michelle Fields, the journalist who claimed Corey Lewandowski battered her and her actions 'looked like a fraudulent slip-and-fall.'
Police in Jupiter, Florida released video of their interview with Michael Spellman on Thursday, along with a more formal statement that he wrote immediately afterward.
Spellman, the president of a glass technology company based in Jupiter, says on camera that Fields' reaction to Lewandowski separating her from Trump after a March 8 press conference was 'disproportionate' and 'bizarre.'
'At first I thought she was drunk,' he recalled.
State Attorney Dave Aronberg and his chief assistant Adrienne Ellis considered Spellman's statement along with those of other witnesses, ultimately finding that there was conflicting evidence that would kill their chances of convicting Lewandowski.

She definitely touched Trump as you can see him pull his arm...
I’d like to know the ultimate fallout for Ben Shapiro, too... he left Breitbart and risked his own reputation to support her. Oh and what of those other female “journalists” and Cruz and Kasich, all of whom denounced Lewandowski? Do I hear apologies? How is it people so easily fall for hoaxes, is it that they’re hearing/seeing what they WANT to happen?
I’m sure Michelle gets up every morning...searching the news....looking for adulation from....from anyone!!

20+ years.
Another Trump Effect—exposing frauds in the media for us, including talk radio.
I’m still waiting for Ted Cruz to do the honorable thing and apologize. ...
That is what I noticed, too, about Rush...so quick to place blame if it had to do with Trump.
Dennis Michael Lynch, from Newsmax, stated Thursday night on his show that even though Cory has been cleared, Trump should STILL fire Cory, because “it is never appropriate to ‘lay a hand on a woman’.”
When Lynch said that, I about fell over with shock. What if a woman was trying to kill Trump, or Cruz, does that mean you are not allowed to protect????
Seems some fallen off the deep end, and I see Dennis Michael Lynch as one of them.
Rush NEVER "took her side" of the story. He merely reported what was known, as the story unfolded.
As the facts became more clear, he started calling Fields a "Snowflake" reporter... since she was obviously so easily damaged.
If Megyn Kelly had a daughter...
Corey should beat her to the punch and sue her for slander and defamation of character.

Same here. Once in awhile I tune in for 5-10 to see if anything has changed but otherwise he’s a goner to me.
New Journalism 101 - If you can’t report the news, make the news.
Really? I checked the archives. Rush talked about it, for less than 5 minutes the day after it happened. And then, never mentioned it again in the following week.
In fact, he NEVER mentioned Fields name again for the next 19 days... when the charges were actually filed. And then, Rush merely discussed the facts that were known and the way the media were going nuts about it.
Rush said this: "So just in terms of video capture there's nothing apparent that you can see".
I’ve met Mr. Aronberg and believe him to be an honorable man. He has high political ambitions and is a Democrat. However, he also respects the rule of law. In this case he did the right thing, not the politically expedient thing. It is particularly noteworthy he performed his job as quietly as possible without the fabricated daily press conferences we’ve come to expect from prosecutors seeking air time.
If only Florida state’s attorney Angela Corey, a Republican, had performed her job as responsibly in the George Zimmerman prosecution. It seemed like she was on television daily helping to drive the national media spectacle and lynch mob.
When a Democrat politician performs his or her civic duty well, we should give him credit.
You are probably right. I was just making the point that Fields also said she never touched Trump. She cant win a suit claiming that CL lied and defamed her when he said he didnt touch her when she did exactly the same thing - said she never touched him.
It’s also been reported that another video which wasn’t released to the press showed the secret service stopping her twice. It was brilliant of the Trump campaign to only send it to the prosecutors and not release it to the press. That ensured Michelle would continue to make statements that could be proven not to be true. I do blame Ben Shapiro for instigating this... he has admitted talking her into filing the charges. Remember Michelle also stated she didn’t touch Trump, so she didnt remember touching Trump in the same way Cory didn’t recall throwing her to the ground lol
I was really amazed at how Cruz and his henchmen (including some FReepers) were perfectly willing to convict Lewandowski without a trial.
