Analysis: How Everyone Wins If Donald Trump Loses...Including Trump By WILL RAHN CBS NEWS April 6, 2016
Nearly everyone in the Republican Party could benefit from Donald Trump losing, including Trump himself.
The question is just about how he loses, and when.
It's obvious at this point that Trump is rapidly deflating. Even putting aside his loss in Wisconsin Tuesday night, every indication we have is that he would be decimated in a general election. According to a Washington Post poll from last week, he's losing to Hillary Clinton by double digits. Demographics that went heavily for Mitt Romney, such as married white women, despise him. He's even underwater with white voters without college degrees, his supposed base. In Wisconsin, exit polling soon after the polls closed showed that a plurality of Wisconsin GOP voters without a college degree chose Ted Cruz over Trump, by a margin of 47 - 37 percent.
"In the modern polling era, since around World War II, there hasn't been a more unpopular candidate than Donald Trump," says the Republican pollster Neil Newhouse.
And it's hard to imagine how Trump can turn this all around. His name ID is as high as a candidate could hope for, but the more voters see of him, the less they like him. Two months ago, he was essentially tied with Clinton in head-to-head match-ups in the RealClearPolitics average. She now leads him by 10 points. In fact, if Trump is the nominee, a Mason-Dixon poll released Tuesday indicates that even the solidly Republican Deep South could be up for grabs.
Winning the Republican nomination only to lose the general election in the most humiliating fashion possible probably doesn't hold much appeal to Trump. In fact, we're not even sure he really wants to be president.

According to a Washington Post poll ....................... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
It’s clear, only John Kasich can save us from the Trump/Cruz fiasco.
It’s a hoot to watch people make fools out of themselves.
Why is it that the Uniparty was working so hard in Wisconsin yesterday to carry Cruz over the goal line?
I invented a new nickname for Ted in honor of yesterday's shenanigans: The Unipatsy.
Apparently the Uniparty thinks Ted will be a pushover in the general, so they're working to get him to a contested convention. :)
If Trump fail Conservative will continue to lose because Democrats will have succeeded in migrating millions of democrats into the country
Trump has all the right enemies, Cruz has all the wrong friends.
Translation: “The Clinton campaign has let us know that she would rather run against some other candidate.”
I can not think of one state Trump would lose that Romney won. Can anyone else?
I can think of several states he might win that Romney lost.
They have no intention of allowing him to run in the general election. He will not get the nomination if he does not have the majority and he can’t get the majority. Trump won’t either.
Either Trump or Cruz offers Kasich the VP slot, or they join together in a Trump Cruz ticket, mend fences and Cruz waits his turn and runs in four or eight years as a sitting VP.
The party WILL steel the nomination and give it ti Romney, Kasich or Ryan.
Reagan should have quit too!
What if the following is true? Wouldn’t it mean Cruz could be blackmailed? Supposed DC Madam’s parietal phone list.
Did Cruz have a TX or DC or VA phone number during this time frame?
Not saying those were Cruzs old phone numbed. Not sure. Who knows if he had one of the many DC phone numbers listed on the leak.
However, what we do know is that the paid Cruz operatives on free republic are freaking out if you dare talk about it. LOL
“Nearly everyone in the Republican Party could benefit from Donald Trump losing, including Trump himself. “
This is the stupidest statement I read in a long time.
Cruz is a drooling moron, true, but the GOP-e wants Kasich. They view Cruz as unreliable, and they would rather go with someone who is 100% loyal to them over someone who may or may not stab them in the back. They have only pushed Cruz to dupe conservatives into initiating a brokered convention.
That’s it. Trump and Cruz are plausibly two crap sandwiches vs. an unknown guaranteed crap sandwich with flies that the party will try to serve.
He's the Uniparty's patsy in this.
