The World Health Organization says a new case of Ebola has been confirmed in Liberia, days after saying the outbreak no longer qualifies as an international health emergency. [ ]

The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...

At this point the disease may well be endemic, present somewhere in some obscure fluid in a former patient (semen, vitreous humor, etc) or in animal populations. All that need happen is for the right human to be in the wrong place at the right time.
At least the disease is somewhat better understood, medical personnel are aware of and looking for the disease, and the course of treatment has been refined to improve both survival rate and reduce transmission to health care people.
