I think Mr Davis sold his enormous collection to the state for one dollar provided they build a museum for it.
To a kid it was sensational to see all the rifles and shotguns lining the walls and the stuff in the lobby like Japanese crew served weapons, hangman hoods and nooses, desperado and lawmen pistols, jailbird shivs and so forth.
J. M. Davis had the largest private collection in the world.
