I remember checking for large gaps some years ago. Sometimes even no comments for a long, long time after signup date.

Of course I have a large gap myself but not bceause I’m on anyone’s payroll!

Up thread I commented that some of the most vocal people in support of Ted don’t vote for him on the caucus.

Perhaps Cruz folks have seen the same thing in Trump folks too.

Since there are so many more Trump voters, it’s not as easy to spot those who don’t vote.

Yes. I try not to give folks grief if they’ve just arrived.

I want new people here, but you can tell when you’ve got a live one too.

I know what you mean.

I checked out a guy the other day that had a gap prior to 2008.

Hmmm, 2008. “:^)

I have to admit, I’m pretty happy with the pruning going on.

It’s not that I wish any I’ll will just because someone supports Cruz; it’s that in the last several years we’ve been invaded by what I can only think of as “right-wing liberals.”

Seems like there’s a great mass of folks who couldn’t construct a valid argument if their life depended on it, and they almost relish in their ignorance! They spout stuff that would have got you hounded off FR by other FReepers before the early 2000s. Now it seems like they’re mostly the norm.

I really miss the days where I could clean up my thinking by coming here instead of wrestling with people whose only motivation seems to be saving face for their opinions.

I'm not sure I have posted this to you or not. It is a very long read, but explains what has been happening here.

There are members here with old sign up dates who only come out during presidential elections. Like clockwork, every four years, they rise like zombies from the crypt.

Most are harmless, but some are agents provocateurs.

That is a very interesting article. I have definitely seen some of the techniques used here especially this election cycle.

Thank you. I’ll check that out.

CoinTelPro goes way back. I think it was under the microscope as early as the late 80s.

There was a guy investigating them and he wound up toes up in bathtub or some such.

I am familiar with that murder. Thank you for the refresher.

There is also this from the beginning of the Cruz campaign. The campaign hired Daniel Gabriel to handle all social media and online work.

I like to accuse them of being election sleeper trolls or ask them if they just got out of prison.

On a more serious note, although I’ve always considered myself to be a conservative, as I found myself in more agreement with Donald Trump I’ve come to realize that I’m more of a populist with nativist leanings.

Looking at the behavior of some of our more strident Cruz adherents, I’ve come to the conclusion that the people on the far right are just as nutty as those on the far Left. For some of them no matter how good your position or evidence they’re completely blind to considering it.

I’ve just about given up on trying to change anyone’s mind.

I don’t know how I stayed away for about more than a year.

It did save time, though.

A while ago, I realized that the word “conservative” means - whatever anyone wants to think it means. And in the last few months that has proven to be more true than I even suspected.

It’s just a label that actually means little to nothing, at this point. Considering all the “conservatives” who have done nothing but help 0bunghole and his henchpeeps take the country (and helped the world) to the very brink of the abyss.

How can anyone be a conservative unless they are America first? The "consistent conservatives" created a narrative to define globalism as conservatism.

Looking at the behavior of some of our more strident Cruz adherents, I’ve come to the conclusion that the people on the far right are just as nutty as those on the far Left. For some of them no matter how good your position or evidence they’re completely blind to considering it.

I believe they are Uniparty. Their entire existence of leaching off of the taxpayers will come to an end with the election of Mr. Trump. I keep seeing their posts getting more and more panicking.

It is also possible they are Democrat plants. Either way, they are as far from conservative as one can get.

At this point, minds won’t be changed.

You have the diehard idealist that can’t think in the abstract.

Cruz is Conservative. End of debate.

They see him as just as capable as Trump. There is no reason. If he didn’t have any other votes but theirs, they’d still vote for him. To hell with the nation, they made their stand.

Trump can actually achieve what they want. Ted couldn’t. It doesn’t matter.

Trump is Satan to them. There’s nothing beyond that.

Some folks are in this to support Ted, and others are in it here to toss it back to the GOPe.

Ted’s folks can’t fathom who they are helping, and what it will cost the nation.

They don’t participate on this level. They are incapable of it. Others know full well what they are doing.

This is the all out war they spoke of.

Now we have the Vichy FReepers collaborators.

They may very well cost us the war, and the nation we love.

It is that dire.

Okay great. Thanks.

I thought that was bad news.

Ted is relying on this guy now too I’ll bet.

Do you have any idea how out of it the Cruz folks are right now?

They are totally oblivious. That’s just the honest ones.

Others are here subverting the forum on purpose.

True, but unfortunately such techniques come quite naturally to those who don't have any particular intellectual underpinnings.

they're more bitchy teenage girls than agent provocateurs.

Personally, I think the practical difference is moot.
