Microsoft' newly launched A.I.-powered bot called Tay, which was responding to tweets and chats on GroupMe and Kik, has already been shut down due to concerns with its inability to recognize when it was making offensive or racist statements. Of course, the bot wasn't coded to be racist, but it "learns" from those it interacts with. And naturally, given that this is the Internet, one of the first things online users taught Tay was how to be racist, and how to spout back ill-informed or inflammatory political opinions. [Update: Microsoft now says it's "making adjustments" to Tay in light of this problem.]
In case you missed it, Tay is an A.I. project built by the Microsoft Technology and Research and Bing teams, in an effort to conduct research on conversational understanding. That is, it's a bot that you can talk to online. The company described the bot as "Microsoft's A.I. fam the internet that's got zero chill!", if you can believe that.

Microsoft has since deleted some of the most damaging tweets, but a website called Socialhax.com collected screenshots of several of these before they were removed. Many of the tweets saw Tay referencing Hitler, denying the Holocaust, supporting Trump's immigration plans (to "build a wall"), or even weighing in on the side of the abusers in the #GamerGate scandal.

Liberal author.
when are they going to perfect an AI wife?
This is why we can’t have nice things?
Oh, man, this has 4chan written alllllll over it..!!!
ahahahhaha.!!
Option 1) AI which can be manipulated and taught to behave in bad and unexpected ways.
Option 2) AI which has sufficient intelligence or hard-wired thinking that it operates independently and is immune to human manipulation or persuasion.
Neither of these seems like a good Option.
There is no Option 3.
So what I see happening is the American version ends up basically useless, and without any personality, while the rest of the world develops an interesting, vibrant version which unfortunately won’t buy American products, allow any global immigration whatsoever, and unfortunately only speaks Chinese.
:D
(sort of, on that smiley face)
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
The rise of skynet stopped by political correctness
O Tay!! ( buckwheat reference)
They're working on it. But the models so far have periods twice a month and bitch all the time but they are working on the problems.
German-Belgian-French version will be in Arabic.
I hate it.
The First AI personality (for lack of a better name,) and also the World's first deliberately manipulated politically correct entity.
I can see it taking over the task of the MSM.
Baghdad Bob redux; hence useless.
Ensuring that political correctness becomes the primary driver of the evolution of AI, confirming the assumption of the future as described in the prescient realization of 1984; Brave New world; Fahrenheit 451; etc, etc, etc...
Have you watched ex machina?
I keep seeing it on amazon prime. Is it good?
It’s fantastic...it really makes you think about AI and the impact it can have on us. Watch it! But don’t talk to people about it or read about it. Just go in cold like I did.
“.....and Texxon is there.”
sounds good!!! thanks.
