Most Republicans Feel Embarrassed by Campaign, Poll Says
The New York Times ^ | 3-21-2016 | PATRICK HEALY and MEGAN THEE-BRENAN

Alarmed by the harsh attacks and negative tone of their presidential contest, broad majorities of Republican primary voters view their party as divided and a source of embarrassment and think that the campaign is more negative than in the past, according to a New York Times/CBS News national poll released on Monday.

The dismay has not set back their leading candidate, however. While about four in 10 Republican voters disapprove of how Donald J. Trump has handled the violence at some of his rallies, Mr. Trump has also picked up the most support recently as several rivals have left the race. Forty-six percent of primary voters said they would like to see Mr. Trump as the party’s nominee, more than at any point since he declared his candidacy in June. Twenty-six percent favored Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, and 20 percent backed Gov. John Kasich of Ohio.

Fully three-quarters of Republican primary voters expect Mr. Trump to be their party’s nominee.

Why is it over for them?

where’s the poll that says this is in the books already?

We have to push and work TWICE as hard as 2012 because the media will NOT let up on trump.

people on this board think Everyone thinks like people on this board!! or at least the majority of people do.

we can’t take that for granted. We need to fight like we have to come from behind and get EVERYONE that we know who sits home on election day to vote or Trump.

or we’ll lose.

Only reason we have a chance is because dem decided to attempt suicide with Hillary.

don’t forget the 50 million plus that voted for a MARXIST TWICE!

Our dignity is what matters most. So ...

Forget the muslim ban.

Continue our winning trade policy. Working so well for us.

Never speak of waterboarding.

Be sweet to rent-a-goons who trash political rallies.

Let’s get back to normal.

I don’t know of a single republican who ain’t votin’ Trump. That’s at least a couple dozen.

There were two..Kasich and Cruz. They flipped to Trump.

I’m guessing it’s another herd-poisoning operation.

I'm Embarrassed

We should all be. The republican campaign has come down to a sycophants worshiping demagogues.

A lot of people are going to be very disappointed when they figure out their beloved candidates didn't really mean what they said in the campaign the way their worshipful followers thought they did.

Then again it's looking more and more like a Hillary win so we won't have to worry about that. We can just spend the next 4 years watching our country spiral down the toilet.

No worries, LOL
I was talkin’ ‘bout people in my corporeal orbit; not virtual acquaintances!

Cruz had me....then lost me....a few months ago.

He’d make a workmanlike executive, but I want an iconoclast this time around: someone who can strip this gubmint Emerald City down to the studs
and do an historic renovation. Cruz would be a good architect, but Trump has a track record for demo and restructuring....grunt work.
I fear Cruz would start hanging curtains over the broken windows....and neglect pest control. Termites.

Forty-six percent of primary voters said they would like to see Mr. Trump as the party’s nominee,

You can’t win with 46% of the vote.
Hello Hillary.

I'm Embarrassed.

And you should be for trying to make a Cruz-like statement - let someone else say it and then try to leverage it to your advantage. Slime is what slime does and a lot of Cruz supporters have been involved in slime while he says it wan't him but is glad to leverage it to his advantage - and they try to claim Trump is inconsistent - so much for their religious paragon of morality claims.

Why is it over for them?

I was referring to dinosaur media, not the election.

I’m VERY EMBARRASSED too.

A person that CLAIMED to be the most principled conservative in a generation, Ted Cruz, is reduced himself being a USEFUL IDIOT for the GOPe - in their quest to stop Trump and get one of their own on the ticket (Jeb, Linda, Ryan, or Romney).

I cannot believe that the CRUZ has DEGENERATED to this, it is VERY EMBARRASSING to see what he’s become.
