Anyone watching "The Passion" right now on Fox?
Amazing that anything Christian is found on TV today. I am pleasantly surprised with the show so far. I'm sure it will have it's critics, but at least the Good News of Jesus is being spread.

Haven’t studied particulars, but sometimes it turns out that a non-Christian will come up with a more poignant insight into things gospel, than a standard church-formula Christian will. The fellow may be groping his way towards God, with God leading him on.

And sometimes... venom is not even aimed as much at Christ and Christians but at some strawman formed in one’s head about what these things are.
When I met Hindus who seemed to be more open to the joy of a gospel message than the common modern standard-issue church Christian, it kind of rocked my world. No, I’m still Christian, I didn’t change where I placed my faith. I did change my understanding about how God operates through it.

Animosity at Christ is nothing new. It’s as old as “He eats and drinks with gluttons and drunkards.”
A God of grace is going to get such opprobrium from people who are still on the “earn or burn” wavelength.
And frankly, modern Christians can get on that wavelength too, making a mockery out of what they claim to believe from the bible. The unbeliever is especially sensitive to this.

Peter Steele has to be the best fairly unknown metal/hard rock conversion. A dramatic reversal of an avowed atheist coming around. It’s a tragedy he died after only making one album as Christian, and it’s a great album by Type O Negative. With his sense of humor and smarts, he would have been a deadly opponent of the folks who would have given him crap over it.

You’re trying to cram your soul full of formulas. I can guarantee you that is a losing game. You are forever worrying about whether there is some loose end of God that you forgot to tuck into your soul and God is going to get mad at you and blow you to hell if you do.
You can very easily miss the forest for the trees. God wages His wars for the sake of His love. His anger is but a moment but His lovingkindness is forever. To try to give the two equal time is, in fact, to paint a distorted God. This gets even worse when one forgets to consider the audience addressed in the angrier passages.
I don't see the power of God ascribed to a movie. Perhaps if one of the Jewish Apostles had made it ... For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Maybe you need to see gore before you really know what the gore described in the bible means, for example.
