Are GOP delegates patriots above all else?
Would the delegates' own opinions be respected enough for unity?
If everyone falls short of the 'magic' 1236 [or whatever it is], is it possible that Cruz can actually prevent a brokered convention?
Will most Trump supporters understand if Trump is defeated via a convention fight?
How much time does Trump have to enter ballots as an independent if a convention fight is a certainty? Under such circumstances, should he consider doing so?
How much leverage will the Establishment have on Trump if he's forced to make a deal with them at the convention? How much would that water down his agenda?
[Rush mentioned that the Establishment forced Bush on Reagan via a convention threat.]
If Trump runs as an independent, how many GOP party faithful will remain with the GOP? Up against the frontrunner, would the GOP become a third party?
Rather than staying home, if Trump ran as an independent and started a third party, would you join him?
If Trump maintains the popular vote and loses the convention somehow, would you encourage him to start a third party?
Is it reasonable to assume that some of Trump’s own delegates might abandon him at a contested convention?
After last night there won’t be a convention fight.
You make a good point.
If you are so blind as to not see the difference between a criminal and a relatively honest man then there is no help for you.
Hillary will send you a special greeting and a signed picture of her with a voice recording suitable for framing. Congratulations!
So vote for the establishment pick then? Let’s say they put Romney in.. would you still vote for him?
We need a SECOND party.
They agree on health care.
They agree on amnesty.
They agree on abortion.
And on and on and on. Criminal? Relatively honest?
Trump and Cruz together will probably have about 80% of the delegates. Why would any of them want to nominate Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, or whoever the devil de jure is? I'm tired of this scare tactic. Jeb Bush has a zero% cance of being the nominee, so does Romney, Ryan, or anyone else not running. Rubs and Kasich have maybe 1% chance each if things get wacky. It will be Trump or Cruz.
I won't be blackmailed into bowing down to Trump with threats of Trump going "I". If he's the nominee, I'll back him. Anyone who doesn't back the nominee is a traitor who I would have less regard for than the crap on the bottom of my shoe, and that would include anyone backing a Trump third party if he is not the nominee. NO HILLARY, PERIOD. That means no 1912 nonsense. Anyone that would seek to split the vote is not a "patriot".
[Rush mentioned that the Establishment forced Bush on Reagan via a convention threat.]
I never heard that. Have you, DJ? What I've was his own idea was Gerald Ford, but Ford demanded too much power so he turned to Bush. He seemed set on united the party, he chose a RINO as his 1976 running mate too. Should have chosen a conservative.

Trump's only agenda is to get elected. His positions shift in the wind. Look for significant leftward movement if he's nominated to reach out to those "patriotic blue collar Reagan democrats" aka union swine.
‘I won’t be blackmailed into bowing down to Trump with threats of Trump going “I”.’
I don’t expect you to be blackmailed. I expect Cruz to be a statesman if he’s not the front runner. I expect him to unite the party.
That’s the kind of leader you deserve.
If Trump were some astro-turf insider, I could understand a convention challenge. But he’s not.
‘[Trump’s] positions shift in the wind.’
I do know that Hillary’s and Sanders’ political positions are as rock-ribbed as any conservative’s.
Someone pointed out that ‘not many’ Trump delegates would abandon him. It would be madness if that were the tipping point at a challenged convention.
Have to disagree vehemently here. Given that I no longer support the Republicans when they play the role of Democrat ringer, who they nominate is paramount. If by some Satanic action they attempt to install a third ringer in a row, they can screw themselves. I have no moment of hesitation in repudiating a party that has embraced evil. I repudiated Willard the Rat, and I retroactively repudiated McQueeg. That party is not on my side. Only if Cruz (or Trump, so long as he doesn't go native) is nominated will I vote for their nominee.

Possibly, but how much it is true I don't know. Reagan's weak spot was attempting to appeal to RINOs as such. Choosing Dick Schweiker may have been the straw that cost him in 1976 (although it supposedly caused him to move rightward, and it is unfortunate he retired from the Senate in 1980, which would've prevented the execrable Specter from taking his seat). Picking Ford would've been a fiasco, because you'd have had two cooks competing for lead chef, and the media would've used squishy Ford to drive a wedge between himself and Reagan's agenda. There was only one person who should've been chosen in 1980, and that was Paul Laxalt. A runner-up would've been Ohio's John Ashbrook, although he'd have died just a year into his term as VP.
“. If by some Satanic action they attempt to install”
As I said, precious little chance of that, Trumper fear-mongering aside. It’s pretty hard to see anyone other than Trump or Cruz being nominated, they’re just trying to scare people into voting for Trump.
I doubt he nor many his fans here care who the nominee is if it’s not him. Everyone who is not for Trump is in the same category to them, the enemy. Remember the last time he gave a concession speech to Cruz? It was a good and gracious speech and I took it for a hopeful sign that he might cut the crap. The magnanimity lasted all of 12 hours before he went completely off the rails and started whining for re-vote, you know who the last Republican candidate to do that was.
More IL polls
IL GOP (NBC): Trump 34%, Cruz 25%, Kasich 21%, Rubio 16%.
IL GOP (CBS): Trump 38%, Cruz 34%, Kasich 16%, Rubio 11%.
I like that second one, 4 points. Gay’s itch and Rubs sucking wind, get excited DJ!
The only way Gay’s itch could get nominated is if some Trump delegates decide Trump can’t win (or he withdraws at some point) and they prefer him to Cruz, which they might, because many of them are probably not that conservative and many might just do whatever Don tells them to do and I can I totally see Trump preferring Kasich if for no other reason than spite and the likelihood that many more Republican voters would abandon Kasich for a Trump “I” bid than would abandon Cruz.
