A good album for a quiet evening
Even as a Rock Solid fan of Rush, AC DC, Zep, and The Who, I sheepishly admit this artist as guilty pleasure. Esp. China Roses, and Afer Ventus which have an amazing ethereal relaxing effect.
“Even as a Rock Solid fan of”
I am the same way except that for me it is Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris and T-Bone Burnett. But Enya is just so cool
I concur.
I also appreciate the works of LedZep, the Who, Blue Oyster Cult, etc., but Enya has grown on me as of late.
I always thought she was Scottish, but I guess she’s Celtic (if that’s the right word), or Irish.
L.A. Story, 1991, “On Your Shore,” Steve Martin and Victoria Tennant changing from adults to children and back again.
Missus and I acquired all Enya and Clannad albums available at that time.
KYPD
Reminds me of my college years. Sit and listen to this while studying....
Until this thread, I had never heard of ENYA, but I AM a fan of "mood music" and I LOVE this
LOL
Per previous posts, it appears my odd song-genre mix isn't as out-of-the-norm as I thought. I just hit random/all and my first 5 songs are from these artists: Judas Priest, Imagine Dragons, Poets of the Fall, Enya, and Chris Rhea. Good stuff.
very much appreciated. I miss the forest.
I used to use her music alot at my work, but the more I grow in Christ, the more I realize I need to rethink what I listen to - words and instrumental - what is the motive or root inspiration of the artist in their creation? Are they in line with God or lulling people in another direction with their feel good music? Especially if there are chants and such that I’m not sure the meaning of, since it’s repeated over and over. ( Just like many FR folks commented against kids being taught Islamic sayings in school, and such other stories that have been her on FR)
I had to stop using other music as well, not just Enya’s. That’s just my experience, I know God works in each person in various ways for His purposes.
They are an acquired taste but *quite* worth it. However they are strongly Christian which might put some people off.
Check out YouTube for the songs "Inside My Heart" (ballad / morphs into rock) or Songs of Ascent (deep and stirring).
Enya’s real-life sister, Moya Brennan (sometimes goes by Maire) has some good stuff including a great Christmas album.
Irish is tough - ‘Maire’ is pronounced ‘Moya’, and ‘Eithne’ is pronounced ‘Enya’!
my favorite enya song is “exile”
Mine is “Only Time”
.
Enya singing An Tull live with Clannad in 1982. A rarity I’d never seen before.
