The Brody File ^ | 3/10/2016 | David Brody

Posted on 03/10/2016 5:22:05 AM PST by joesbucks

GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz tells The Brody File that the reason Donald Trump is performing well in the GOP race for president is because his voters are uninformed and not engaged in the process. “Donald does well with voters who have relatively low information, who are not that engaged and who are angry and they see him as an angry voice.

But Trump is part of an elite with skills to make business and money, not the lame political class.

“Cruz and his establishment friends are working their hardest to never get the votes of Trump supporters. This is the one time where Ted might finally get something accomplished.”

To say that Cruz is establishment is just not true and you know it

Sorry, but while that may make some folks here sleep better at night, that argument is pure bunk.

Who was your “real” conservative last cycle? Folks who make this “a real conservative can win” argument, fail to understand politics at its most basic level.

You don’t win simply with a message, you have to have the right message with the right messenger. Reagan not only had the right message, but was a competent and capable messenger for it as well. Who in the last 24 years (1992 to today) do you think could have won as a “real conservative”? Please, go through all the folks who ran and tell who you honestly thing was going to win?

Got news for you, NONE OF THEM. If winning an election were simply about message, then you can put anyone in a suit and tie, deliver your message and win... that generally doesn’t work.

The reality is, if you can’t win your party’s primary, you sure aren’t going to win a general, so this, “if only a real conservative were running we’d win every time” is just silly.

The pure stupidity of some in the republican party comes out every cycle, some of it always shows up in the argument you are trying to make... Oh those majority of folks who are voting for the other guy, they are just troglodytes or ill informed or disengaged, or whatever excuse the losing candidate wishes to make... This is a purely idiotic move to make, yet they do it every single time... Because if by some miracle the person who delivers this line somehow overcomes the odds and gets the nomination, they just alienated a good portion of their base, who will not stay home on election day and they lose.

The belief that message alone wins you elections, has been proven demonstrably false again and again.

I suppose you think that's the idea of a clever retort?

Tell me oh grand master. How is Ted Cruz an outsider?

Cruz wants to win, so it would be foolish to turn down votes from Bush supporters.

Brody File Exclusive: Ted Cruz Says Donald Trump's Voters Have "relatively low information" And Are "not that engaged"

The title doesn’t match what Cruz said: “Donald does well with voters who have relatively low information, who are not that engaged and who are angry and they see him as an angry voice. Where we are beating him is when voters’ get more engaged and they get more informed.”

I’d say that’s true. He does well with low info voters. That doesn’t mean all of his voters are low info. It doesn’t mean he ONLY appeals to low info voters. It doesn’t mean the majority of his voters are low info.

I’d say that David Brody isn’t too sharp though.

Well Trump said he loves his uneducated supporters. So Cruz does have a point.

The primary is almost over. Ted is not converting engaged voters. He insulted Trump supporters presuming they are not engaged. If you do not vote fer Ted, you is be unenfarmed.

Reagan validated his change over time with actions. It was not a sudden change as he began positioning for a presidential run. That is the difference to me. If Trump had a decade of actions to support his change in stance, I would have a different response to his claim.
