Ted Cruz Says Donald Trump's Voters Have "relatively low information" And Are "not that engaged"
The Brody File ^ | 3/10/2016 | David Brody

Posted on 03/10/2016 5:22:05 AM PST by joesbucks

GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz tells The Brody File that the reason Donald Trump is performing well in the GOP race for president is because his voters are uninformed and not engaged in the process. “Donald does well with voters who have relatively low information, who are not that engaged and who are angry and they see him as an angry voice.

This perpetual insulting of Donald Trump voters by Ted and others are the exact reason Republicans haven’t had a solid victory since 1988.

No, the reason the right keeps losing is because every four years a majority of GOP voters become convinced that a true conservative can't win. So they search for somebody who's not that conservative. Some big government tall dude who we are going to sell as "less big government than their bigger government candidate."

It's this compromising of principles in some fuzzy quest for electibility that causes conservatives to balk and nominate a Dole, a McCain, a Romney, and now a Trump.

I guess King Cruz hasn’t seen the graph showing that the most highly educated voters went for Trump over Cruz by a long shot.

But, the king lies; we all know that.

I think there is also a strong “choose to ignore” aspect in those who follow Trump. They intellectually know of his liberal past, but don’t care

So anyone who has ever had a liberal past is not a good candidate?

Ronald Reagan was a lifelong liberal Democrat until 1962 when he became a conservative. Three years later he ran for governor in California.

Cruz is beginning to really irritate me.

I see him as a candidate that is now just a pawn.

He is caught between Beck and Levin on one side, and the GOPe/MSM on the other.

Because of his position as the potential last “Not Trump” candidate, he is being afforded softball treatment from the press, being supported by the Gope, and getting star treatment from AM talk radio.

He will thus become even more arrogant because he thinks he can get away with anything, not understating that he is just a tool for bigger players that will yank the legs out of the stool he is standing on the minute he has outlived his usefulness.

I would never, ever describe a Cruz supporter as an idiot Cruzbot.
I liked Cruz wall enough from the start,it’s just that Trump really knows how to get in the establishment’s face.
Some of the things that Ted has done recently like letting Beck get close has shaken my opinion of him.He really should know better.
But the animosity between Trump and Cruz supporters has gotten way out of hand and needs to stop.

-- Cruz just said that as voters who are not engaged become more engaged and hear his message they will support him. --

His remark was mostly negative against Trump, and is a very common claim read here on FR. The claim is that voters who are not engaged do not realize how corrupt Trump is. Once they realize how corrupt Trump is, they will no longer support Trump, and they will vote for me (Cruz), as a Washington outsider who has worked against Washington corruption.

I don't think it's a bad type of message, per se, but it has to ring of truth to be a morally sound (not false witness) message; and it has to be credible (truth not being a factor here) in order to persuade on its face.

Trump supporters think Cruz's claim is just another lie. They don't see Trump's support of politicians as the same sort of corruption that politicians engage in (if they see political donations as corruption at all), and they don't see Trump's support of politicians as the equivalent of being a Washington insider for forty years (that is what Cruz claims Trump is).

You will proudly stand along side the establishment is enough said. We did that for the last 16 years and look where America stands. I truly pity you.

The last time some junior Senator who was a Harvard lawyer with a questionable citizenship talked like that we got Obama. Different party, same attitude.

I came to almost the same conclusion as Cruz myself. It seems so many Trump supporters are excited about things that are old news, they just think it is new news because they haven’t been paying attention for the last 3 or 4 years.

Trump has a great idea, lets build a wall, hooray! Go Trump!
(There was a law passed 10 years ago to build a wall)

Trump wants to stop illegal immigration! Why didn’t we think of that?
(Trumps new ideas on immigration are almost identical to Cruz’s stated position from 2011, when he was running for Senate)

Trump thinks we need to bring American businesses back to America, he’s gonna force them to stay! whoopee!
(Cruz has been pushing to end Obama care, end over regulation of business, restructure the tax code, etc. since he has been in the Senate.)

A great number of Trumps supporters ARE working with less than complete information, but “We don’t care!”, because, Trump...

Cruz is starting to have the same problem Rubio had.

There is an art to insulting and neither of them understand how to use insults.

That was what did Rubio in.

Now, Cruz is insulting Trump supporters as ‘low information’?

That is not going to cause those supporters to drop Trump and jump over to the Cruz bandwagon. It is only going to push them away. Check with Romney on how dissing factions of the voters works out. Ask Jeb how dissing factions of the voters work out.

He did great work at the FTC under bush fighting the ecommerce Oligarchs. Contact lens can be bought mail order now because of Ted. Took on lots of job killing regs at theFTC.

Plus he stopped the gang of eight by using the Senate to slow it down, poison it and working with the house members.

Also fought for second amendment rights as Texas AG.

Maybe he should talk more about his record.

On the important issues this election cycle; immigration, border security, jobs, trade and neocon wars Trump is more conservative than Ted. Trump forced "me too" Ted to the right on all those issues. Remember when Trump said "I love the guy, he agrees with me on everything". But of course I just a low info, not paying attention voter so will free to ignore my posting.

His choice will be and industry giant, not a politician.

Lol! Of course it won't. It will be a long time political insider, somebody like Kasich. And all the trumpaloompas will tell us why it's a brilliant pick.

Yeah, but, even lacking a Harvard Law Degree, us rubes know what Constitutional bearing being a Canadian citizen until May, 2014, has on one’s eligibility to hold the Office of President of the United States of America in 2017.

No?

Well then now you get it. Congrats on Ted talking a whole bunch.

Nonsense.

Take a look at the VAST majority of Cruz’s supporters....
They are individuals across the country giving small contributions...

I find it amazing so many people disregard the fact that Cruz is OF the people, whereas Trump is anything but. He is a New York liberal whom has played in the establishment game for literally decades, standing completely opposite of everything conservatives do.

Yet, you folks blindly follow him. Its like he is the pied piper or something... Take a step back and critically think about WHO he is, about what EVERYONE ELSE is saying about him...

People like Mark Levin and Thomas Sowell. Do you think these guys are “establishment types”???

So you intend to vote against Cruz when he gets the nomination?

You going to vote for Hillary?

You’ll stand alongside the establishment as well...
but maybe its different when you do it?

Well Trump said he loves his uneducated supporters. So Cruz does have a point.

Did you hear what Trump actually said?

Cruz distorted (as in lied about) what Trump said which was:

“We won with highly-educated, we won with poorly educated! I love the poorly educated! We’re the smartest people, we’re the most loyal people.”

Trump is poking fun at the GOPes who believe they are smarter and more educated than his supporters.

Its time to eat your peas, your candidate is going down.

Have you seen the crowds Trump draws? Have you seen the poll numbers for FL?

I don't think it's (I'm not too stupid to know how to spell 'it's' correctly) Trump that is going down.
