Dear Trump Supporters
Although I am not particularly enamored with Donald Trump (the ideas Cruz espouses are closer to my own), I absolutely understand and appreciate the dynamic behind Trump's meteoric rise and probable victories in the GOP nomination and the November election. I have posted before on FR about the importance of eradicating the Republican Party, so perhaps Trump is the vehicle for that necessary Schumpeterian creative destruction.
What does fascinate me is the hostility towards Cruz from ostensibly conservative folks who happen to be supporting Trump. I do not really care about the specifics of the animus but note that it approaches a quality that genuinely befuddles me. Having been at FR since the Xlintoon regime I am pretty confident that the hostility heaped on Hellary and Bubba pales in comparison to that currently aimed at Cruz. (I went back and read some random threads from back in the day.)
So here is my genuine question for Trump supporters: what was your attitude towards Cruz a year ago, before the entry of Trump into the race? I recall Cruz being lionized on FR and throughout the conservatosphere for being one of the two or three Senators willing to stand in the way of the Uniparty agenda.
You’ll need an asbestos suit soon.
Nice bait.
I don’t think a asbestos suit will work. I’ve been scorched and daggered right through mine.. sigh!!
Goes both ways.
I used to like Cruz, but now that I like Trump, I have to hate Cruz. /s
All I can say is, if you don’t vote for Ted Cruz, then you hate Jesus and America.
I’ve been wondering the same thing.
I prefer Cruz, but I’ll happily take Trump.
Either way it will be the first time in 36 years that the GOP-wing of the Democrat party has been denied their will.
Interesting that you only see one side.
There are many Cruz supporters who do the same to Trump.
Yet, you place all blame on supporters of Trump.
If you want to know why some conservatives support Trump, pay
closer attention to exit polls.
I’ve observed it’s a 2 way street - I for one have not and would not say a disparaging word against trump or his supporters.
There’s a lot of “we are done” out there on the Trump side and I’m one of them.
IMO there’s a lot of “I can’t believe you dumbasses are throwing away this opportunity for us to have Cruz” mentality..
at least that’s what I think it boils down to.
If you find something in my history of being nasty to Cruz or his supporters, then I apologize in advance, I do have a cocktail from time to time.. but I’m pretty sure I’ve stayed above board because I liked Cruz a year ago, just like Trump more now.. nothing more.. hard core stuff this cycle..
I don’t think hostility towards Cruz started until IOWA and Cruz ran campaigns ads that were blatantly untrue.
But Cruz had some really really obnoxious supporters here at FR. Until IOWA we thought Cruz supporters were using tactics that Cruz wouldn’t have approved of.
The other thing we didn’t like is being told that Cruz was a better Christian than Trump. None of us are righteous in our own right. We are all saved by the grace of God.
Another stupid vanity post designed to start a food fight. You or some other nitwit asked this same question a week or two ago. Who cares? It solves nothing. Vote for your guy, I’ll vote for mine. Knock it off with the vanity nonsense.
I am currently a hardcore Trump supporter but was just aso passionate of a Cruz person last year. But I always questioned his electability. When Trump first came on board I was skeptical at first but heard his ideas and passion aND after 8 years of spineless mess I liked his strength. I am also a firm believer that we need to.move away from politicians and that business men would make perfect POTUS’s. I was a Steve Forbes fan when he first ran.
This campaign has shown Cruz as he truly is. And here’s what he is: Republican click bait for conservatives. He’s been ineffectual in stopping the taxing and spending. He’s been ineffectual in stopping Obama in any real way. The party continues on while he makes a lot of noise. Cruz is the shiny jewel that keeps conservatives voting Republican. I used to think that he didn’t know he was the shiny jewel. But now I think he knows and has always known. I think he’s using the label “conservative” to further his own ambitions. I think the GOPe keeps him around because ultimately he brings MORE money to party. This is evidenced by his big money lobbyist donors. He’s been an ally of the Bushes for years. He IS part of the establishment machine.
I was for Cruz...I sent him money more than once. Then I found out he was born in Canada...and I found out about his votes. And then I started listening to him and I checked out his experience.
Even if everything else were great, which it isn’t, I wouldn’t vote for him due to being born in Canada.
When Cruz led the fight to not negotiate on the budget, he got left to hang out to dry by the GOPe. He seemed to have no plan B and does not appear very savvy with regard to politics.
Brilliant lawyer and mind Cruz is playing dumb on why denying 1237 Delegates to Trump is worth the risk.
disparaging word against trump or his supporters.

Obviously meant Cruz..
