As the reality of Donald Trumps lead sinks in, party figures who once insisted Ted Cruz was at least as bad are starting to come around.
There was a timelong, long agowhen the Republican Party was afraid of Donald Trump, but it truly loathed Ted Cruz.
They hated him. They couldnt stand him. They might have thought Trump was a huckster, they might have thought he didnt have any idea what he was doing, and they might have thought he was a bigot, but at least he wasnt as insufferable as Ted Cruz, the man who had gone out of his way to wreck the partys plans in Congress, and had called Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell a liar. Forced to choose, party elders tended to shudder and lean Trump. Lindsey Graham was particular piquant in his criticism. He was very clear he didnt like Cruz, who he said was no better than Trump and whom he accused of McCarthyism. He cracked, If you killed Ted Cruz on the floor of the Senate, and the trial was in the Senate, nobody would convict you.
A lot can change in a couple weeks. Graham made his joke about murdering Cruz way back on February 26, which makes it all the more surprising to hear from the South Carolina senator these days.
I can work with Ted Cruz, Graham said. I know what Im getting with Ted Cruz.

Yay! Then we can get back to jamming TPA, TPP and unlimited H1-B visas down the people’s throats. Also, we can wait for Ted to get through his top 10 priorities to get around to gay marriage and the attendant losses of religious freedom for the Christians who despise Trump so much. That’s much less offensive than Trump’s lack of delicacy.
Gave him money but
Second, the ad asks: But did you know [Cruzs] law firm contributed over $200,000 to elect Barack Obama? Yes, his coworkers did, but Cruz didnt.
Did you need to use a dictionary to come up with such big words?
Silly juvenile comment, but alas, Cruz supporters do tend to resort to name calling. Sigh
Because Trump (”I’m changing. I’m changing”) is going to reel in H1-b’s? Because gay marriage is on Trump’s top 100 list of priorities? (Can a man with daily new policies have priorities?).
There is another thread with a report from the Hill that a Bush brother is on Cruz’s finance group....

FWIW
I absolutely agree with you that Trump’s bizarre and embarrassing discussion of his anatomy at a U.S. Presidential debate was indeed juvenile.
I don’t think it’s that cut and dried between Cruz and the GOP. It’s all out war to stop Trump and then a somewhat gentler sandbagging of Cruz.
Translation: "Ted Cruz can be bought; and he has been."
Cruz ain’t beating Clinton. All RCP BS.
Of course Rubio the assigned poodle, was so eloquent in his tacking on that. Why, everyone should be the model of decorum and sit on their hands like lil Teddy, unless your preaching, then the hands MUST go up.
Has he denounced crazy Beck yet??? WTH NOT??
Hmmmm
I wonder what Bush is doing on the team.
Can’t see de forest for the trees, eh? Or sailing down de river Nile ...
You better hope not, tr your country is over. Cruz is full establishment.
He lied to you because he is a selfish opportunist. By the way, that is the real reason he is disliked in DC. He didn’t work for it, but wants the big prize.
I’M SURPrised that Trump isn’t getting more support from people in Congress. A good showing tonight may make a difference. If he can get over 80 delelgates, that would be nice, over 100 would be a blessing.
He hasn’t denounced Beck yet!? What about Romney’s frantic lies and robocalls? Has he made any comments about them?
true
But Ted’s suit is YUGE!
Oh yea, a real GOPe man. Come on! I realize you are for Trump, but where does your 'Cruz is the GOPe' come from?
It seems that the criticisms of Cruz alternate like electrical current between his being unfit due to be being so deeply disliked by the GOPe, to nearly simultaneously being the GOPe's lackey.
Please pick a criticism and stick with it. Although, claiming he's a GOPe lackey sounds fruit loops to anyone who's even been a casual observer over the last several years.
He probably borrowed it from Donald.
