Jimmy Carter announced Sunday that he no longer needs treatment for cancer, less than seven months after revealing he had been diagnosed with melanoma that spread to his brain. [ ]
Carters spokeswoman Deanna Congileo said in an email that his doctors will continue to perform scans to ensure cancer cells have not returned, and Carter will resume treatment if necessary. A spokesman for Emory Universitys Winship Cancer Institute, where Carter has been treated, declined to comment on Sunday, citing patient privacy.
Carters treatment plan for the aggressive form of cancer including a round of targeted radiation at several tumors on his brain and doses of an immune-boosting drug every three weeks from August through February. The drug, Keytruda, was approved not long before Carters announcement and helps his body seek out and destroy cancer cells.

This is a big deal. A surviving 90 year old with metastatic brain cancer is a breakthrough.
I agree.
Good news for former president Carter.
What about electro-shock therapy?
First he has metastatic cancer, with liver lesions.
Then he is cured.
Then he has a recurrence.
Now he's cured... AGAIN?
I wish him nothing but the best, but this is one of the strangest cancer courses I've ever heard.
And for a 91 year old!
First, he needed it. Then he was cured. Next, he was back on it. And now he doesn’t need it. He’s as bad as Hellary going to be charged yesterday, not charged today and back to being locked up forever tomorrow.
Buy stock in flip flops.
I’m happy for him. Guess he turned out to be a fighter in one aspect of his life.
What is it with all these ex presidents? Slick survived a heart attack that would’ve killed an ordinary man, GHWB fell and broke his neck and Carter survived cancer which is nearly always terminal...I guess evil is just more determined to stay on this earth...same with Soros & Buffett, how do they live so long?
I’ve been looking forward to the day when Jimmy Carter would no longer need cancer treatments!
