Grading the Debate: Fox News Unethically Coordinates with Romney
Personal ^ | 4 Mar 16 | Xzins

Trump won the debate with Kasich tied. Trump prevails because he was forced to debate 3 moderators who had coordinated with Mitt Romney, who had done his share a few brief hours earlier. He also had to debate 3 candidates, one of whom was independent and the other 2 clearly hitching to the Romney bandwagon.

1. Trump A-

2. Kasich A-

3. Cruz B

4. Rubio - F

I. Fox moderators have stated they spend huge amount of time and analysis preparing their questions.

Then they got down to business, talking through questions. The moderators have spent weeks writing (and rewriting) about 100 potential questions, roughly half of which will actually be asked. Though they have eight to 10 broad topics they plan to raise, including immigration and the economy, the moderators found themselves working down to the wire to refine their questions and think through smart follow-ups.

“Every day I spend a fair amount of time on my iPhone tightening them, redoing them, refining them, further researching them, bolstering them, eliminating them, and starting anew on some,” Ms. Kelly said.

II. One caveat to this process is 'late breaking news'.

Bill Sammon, vice president for news and Washington managing editor, urged the group to keep in mind two additional types of queries: timely ones off late-breaking news and ones “we might have missed.”.

III. So, leaving their carefully scripted questions they have agonized over, the moderators picked up LAST MINUTE orchestrated attempt to INFLUENCE the debate, AND they made it the headliner in their questioning of only one candidate.

IV. Likewise, two other candidates took their cues from the Romney attempt to influence and hung their responses on that same intrusion by a failed former candidate.

V. Trump was hit with this at the last minute on a debate day. One has to truly admire his ability to deal with it.

VI. Fox committed journalistic bigotry by coordinating their questions with an obviously bitter, partisan attack.

1. Trump, A-....For the above reasons and for still being standing, Trump wins the first half of the debate.

2. Kasich, A-...Kasich refused to participate in the Romney attack and in the moderator instigated attacks. Additionally, his answers were very substantial. His response to the Flint water crisis was truly a response from an experienced man. His reminder that he actually worked with Ronald Reagan was another home run. Kasich wins 2nd half of the debate.

3. Cruz, B...Cruz gave some good responses on the legal system about which he is very knowledgeable. He made no real stumbles except his using the Romney coordinated attack.

4. Rubio, F-....Rubio called for an all-out war with full commitment of our troops in the middle east. It went by unnoticed. The guy fancies himself a Little Napoleon.

Amazing isn’t it, that they can do that, and the media doesn’t peep about.

It’s also interesting that the media — all channels — will play Rubio talking about Trump’s penis for days.

But when Trump responds to it, well, omigosh, think of the children.

Were they thinking of the children earlier?

Hypocrites!

I finally had to go to Newmax TV last night.

It did a much better job of at least presenting different views.

CNN, FOX, MSNBC it was all anti-Trump all the time....except for O’Reilly, oddly. O’Reilly did OK.

Trump is making the entire GOPe look bad. And rightfully so. It’s so easy to do.

Priebus should have been fired long ago. A complete incompetent and corrupt fool.

I agree, three minutes of Trump Video from MK and only one minute for Trump to respond. No videos for the other three candidates. FOX is a damn joke..

A reasonable explanation starts with the recollection of the debate that Trump skipped. The mods had video of the other candidates in that Trump-less debate.

I'm guessing that was the footage that they were going to hit Trump with in that debate and they just recycled it for this one.

I thought he did ok for the minute he had ... but the Cruz/Rubio piling on at every single question was disgusting.

My other rule - no more audiences for debates.

Fox moderators have stated they spend huge amount of time and analysis preparing their questions.

Is this supposed to be a shocking indictment?

Stop whining. Trump is the frontrunner. It's only natural that he should get hard hitting questions. If he was as irrelevant as Kasich, he would get as much attention as Kasich.

It was an A and it fell to a D.

This is vindication for Trump, you think?

I thought O’Reilly went very easy on Rubio. At the very least, he should have asked him about his poor attendance and voting record in the senate. This speaks to the issue of responsibility and doing one’s job.

For whatever reason, O’Reilly never pressed him on anything.

Total nonsense.

Moderators don't get a pass just because they happen to shoot at the same target as you. This is where your side fails. You never look beyond the immediate supposed advantage you might have to consider what the long term consequences might be. Tough QUESTIONS on ISSUES would be nice change from these three minute campaign attack ads pretending to be questions we get from these fake “moderators”

Candidate you like in the future will get the same treatment if these sort of gutter scum tactics are not ruthlessly stomped on now.

This is the problem too many “Conservative” have, they are too busy looking to only the next election to consider the longer term consequences of actions that seem to benefit them now.

Cruious also, NOW the tactic is ok? Was not considered acceptable when it was Cruz as the target

Megyn Kelly ADMITS to Ted Cruz the record shows he DID NOT SUPPORT legalization in 2013 Amnesty showdown

Ted Cruz was on with Megyn Kelly right after the debate tonight and midway through the interview she brought up her question to him about his poison pill amendments in the 2013 showdown on amnesty in the Senate.

What I thought was noteworthy was that Kelly admitted to Cruz that after thoroughly reviewing his record on whether or not he supported legalization, she believes his record does support his argument that his amendments were really poison pill amendments and that he never actually supported legalization.

It used to be that audiences were asked to refrain from cheering or applauding. Fox did nothing to discourage that at all. Fox News is not a serious or professional operation.

They even parroted Romney’s barbs for him and anxiously quoted real-time breaking news in an effort to corner Trump.

Fox’s credibility ran into the Trump iceberg and is sinking like the Titanic.

It is vindication of the fact the moderators are not doing their job but acting as campaign activist attack bots.

Don’t get to posture as the “objective” “we report you decidded” Journalists and then knowingly get your “facts” wrong.

I agree, unless they find a way to either balance the house or to silence the house.

I’m sorry, but if you think Mitt Romney or anyone else told Cruz waht to say, then you’re not living in the real world.

Cruz FED off of the coordinated effort.

So, he’s either complicit as a participant or he’s complicit by virtue of using it.

Either way, Cruz’s using it will forever call into question whether there was coordinated action.

The RNC chairman is contributing to the circus effect and the GOP could lose because of this BS. The media loves it, it's like the 16th hole at the Phoenix Open, I think to make it more Raucous they should put kegs of beer out and let the audience drink for a few hours before the debate.

“I am truly surprised that Rubio’s call for an all out war is not getting at least a little notice someplace.”

Exactly. Powerful propagandists protected him.

Micro Rubio needs to go an take his POS foreign policy advisor with him.

The indictment is coordination with Mitt Romney.

Unethical, whether by standards of neutral moderating or by journalistic standards.

Rubio thinks he’s such a foreign policy hotshot, and he’s never been on a battlefield in uniform, so he doesn’t know what it’s like to be in these wars he wants to start. He doesn’t have a clue.
