"Data from the Federal Election Commission and state elections offices provided by the two websites show that Trump has given $584,850 to Democrats and $961,140 to the GOP over the last 26 years." (this is at the Federal level and does not include state or local)

Did he begin his business with a loan or an inheritance, and what was the amount of the loan or inheritance? Just curious. Whatever your answer is, can it be verified by something accurate accessible on the Internet?

That's the right answer. Trump has really had no choice, as a businessman, but to pay to play. That IS the way things are, especially in big cities. You don't pay the city officials off, you don't get your zoning or construction permits; you don't pay off the unions, your project doesn't get done, permits or no; don't pay the unions enough, the job costs a bunch.
... Therefore he paid off the right people.
“Gate is no Trump.”
Didn’t say he was. On the contrary, I said Trump was not comparable to Bill Gates and Microsoft. Bill Gates and Microsoft paid out tens of billions of dollars in judgments, fines, and settlements for its violations of law, including the thefts of intellectual properties. I remember when Bill Gates got his start as a minor stealing computer code out of a dumpster to sell as his own code to program the city stoplights, and he was arrested for joy riding someone else’s heavy construction equipment, after which he abandoned his business partner and moved the fledgling Microsoft from Arizona to Washington. Republicans and conservatives had no business defending Bill Gates and Microsoft against reasonable and just anti-trust lawsuits.
No probably years ago with friendship between families and guest invitations to his resorts...Christy implies knowledge of family not gifts.
Kindness sometimes pays off, when not even asked for or as you imply, demanded..
You people - the one's with the dumb stuff - are so naive about what actually takes place. The only reason Rubio, Cruz, Clinton etc. HAVEN'T paid off politicians for political favors is because they ARE politicians and have never run a business. WHAT DO YOU NOT GET ABOUT THIS?
Just go home and quit voting, instead, go start a business, THEN, after 10 years of this crap you have to do to try to make a profit and not get sued for being successful, come back and vote. You are not helping!
So true. Trump owns properties so 1.5 ft of that 2.5 feet is going to be depreciation schedules. I used to be a mortgage loan underwriter and I’ve seen a lot of really rich people’s tax returns. If you want to see net worth you look at the audited financials which Trump already submitted.
Well, we'll have to disagree on that part, but yes Gates had his problems...which all disappeared when he started sending lobbyists and greasing the right politicians.
Which was my entire point.
Cruz is not eligible per Article II of our Constitution. Trump is your only choice if you respect the rule-of-law, unless you support Kasich or Carson.
They would be having Cruzgasms over it!
“Which was my entire point.”
I wasn’t disputing that. I only wanted to clarify how their respective positions were worlds apart despite their common need to cope with and defend against political graft.
I suspect a more recent quid pro quo, actually.
No argument here, the situations were different but the game is the same for sure.
Thanks FRiend.
“he chose a different pathlaw and policy.”
Also known as sucking on the government teat.
His kids are not running so it doesn’t matter what they do. Honestly the only positive he has in my opinion is that his grown kids seem like good people but it means nothing.
You understand the context of the question exactly.
As to your point. It is a long standing practice that party leaders use in counting votes for important bills. They make sure that they have enough votes so they can let some members in districts where the bill isn't liked vote against it. But, that is for the purpose of giving that person the record to run on and the favor will soon have to be repaid.
People like Ted Cruz or Rand Paul are not extended that "courtesy".
