Trump Says He 'Can't' Release His Tax Returns. The IRS Doesn't See Why Not.

Donald Trump says he would like to release his tax returns to the public, but just can't.

"I'm being audited now for two or three years, so I can't do it until the audit is finished, obviously. And I think people would understand that," the Republican front-runner said at Thursday night's Republican debate in Houston.

The Internal Revenue Service and tax experts, though, say he can.

"Nothing prevents individuals from sharing their own tax information," IRS spokesman Anthony Burke said in an email.

Audits aren't out of the norm for someone with Trump's wealth, legal experts say, and there's nothing to stop Trump from making his tax returns public.

"He's not legally prevented from disclosing tax returns publicly. There's no prohibition on that," said Georgetown University tax law and policy professor John Brooks.

"He probably just doesn't want to," Brooks said.

How do you know that isn’t 20 reams of blank paper?

Lame! Very Lame! Is that the best you can do?

Why would he clasp bind so many sections of ‘blank paper’?

Why does a confidence man wrap a $20 around a roll of $1s

Whether or not to believe Trump is certainly up to the voters.

But we now ALL know about the believability of the IRS.

Hey IRS, anyone there take the 5th at a hearing lately?

How’s your employment applications for low IQ administrators going?

Especially really, really low IQ democratic female token administrators?

Right with you. Trump is quite correct, he showed his financials already why do we need his tax returns, ASAP? If the IRS is involved in the returns there may be revisions and then people will be boo hooing about “changes” and “must be hiding something”.
It seems like the IRS has changed from collecting taxes to being the shakedown arm of BO & the uniparty. I am glad Rubio & Cruz are showing us who they are, I will not forget.

I don’t know anyone who does that. Do you?

Trump doesn’t handle small change, so there goes your silly analogy...again :(

Notice any similarities?

“But obviously he can’t release those tax returns. How would it look? you do pretty well if you don’t pay taxes for 10 years when you’re making millions and millions of dollars.”-Harry Reid

“He can do it tomorrow. He doesn’t want to do it, because presumably here’s something in there”- Ted Cruz

Now, with Cruz’s flat tax, Donald would not have to worry about this.

I should hive pointed out that if you look closely at that stack, you can see what appears to be groups of paper and I suspect that each of those groups are “books” each one for an individual company or investment.

If individual companies each have their own investment program, they are required to list each and every stock they own and the dividend or income from each. That alone creates a lot of paper.

I suspect that he has a lot of income from leases and franchises....more paperwork.

I once owned three small companies and the tax returns were a nightmare, even though I used a CPA for my returns. Just gathering all of the info and recording it was a pain.

And don’t tell me that you just push a button on your computer. That helped a lot but there still is a lot of work involved and computers create a lot of paper in spite of our dream that we could go paperless.

Am I ever glad I am retired.

Because it’s gonna make him look stupid if he releases them, and then the IRS says it’s wrong.

He doesn’t need to release them at all.

Why not just dispense with the stage craft and release the returns like he said he wanted to do?

Pay attention. He’s explained it, repeatedly.

Do you own a business? Just curious. Do you not take your attorney’s advice, if so?

Even JimRob agrees that Trump has no reason to release his tax returns.

"You can see the copier (heated) rolling edges, on the paper."

THANKS for explaining that! I was wondering why that stack didn't look like fresh reams of paper.

I love Trump! I learn something new everyday.

Trump submitted his disclosure form ON TIME just like all the other candidates as required. (Though not all were on time).

No candidate is required to submit their Tax returns to Congress...and certainly not for public perusal. It just became a custom circa 1970.
