People don’t look where they’re going and all it takes to fall to one’s death is one wrong step!
I’m not that adventurous.
Ban all trails!
>He fell 1,000 feet down the mountainside
At 32 ft per second squared the final velocity is beyond most DinDus ability to calculate.
i was wondering, what did it feel like?
do you just tumble on rock, get knocked out? or are you conscious all the way down till splat...
and what are you thinking about, if anything.
did they check his phone for selfie?
Old shoes not good. New shoes can be just as bad. Semi-worn shoes with good treads just right.
It's only 1450' drop.
Probably need to institute background checks .... background checks save lives (hey, not my idea, just echoing what people with a lot of degrees say)!
Look a bit like Maine’s ‘Knife Edge’, but not as steep or narrow.
They should ban trails...........!!!
I always wonder how much taxpayer money was wasted on these idiots.
18” wide trails adjacent to a steep drop?
Lordy.

Too many unprepared fools attempt the climb to them 10,000 foot summit. I’ve seen an 80 year grandfather ascend it on his birthday, in the Summer...
BTW, despite National Monument designation, the NFS doesn’t bother with any signs to caution hikers about the trail ahead and numerous deaths on Baldy’s ski hut trail and devils backbone.
When I asked why not post signs & clearly mark trails, the Ranger stated that “its NFS policy to keep signage at a minimum in order to preserve the natural state.”.
Actual quote.
So IMHO NFS in SoCal is grossly negligent as well.
Other forest service regions across the country post useful signs as a caution, and bother to mark trails / maintain them.
SoCal, no so much.
