The devils backbone doesn't sound safe to me. I have hiked up to Angels Landing.
Angels Landing is at the top.
It's only 1450' drop.

Hiked down Kaibob Grand Canyon Trail, and back up Bright Angel. 5000 foot+ drop from the top.
