Presidential candidate Ted Cruz has praised Donald Trump for making illegal immigration a central issue of the Republican presidential race, but in an exclusive interview with ABC News, Cruz said that Trumpâs immigration plan amounts to amnesty.
"So Donald Trump's position is once you deport them, it's what's called touchback. A lot of establishment Republicans had touchback," Cruz said in an interview with ABC Newsâ George Stephanopoulos. "Basically you make them fly back to their country for a minute, touch the ground, and then they come back with amnesty as citizens. Now, Donald is entitled to do that. He can advance that position, but he doesn't get to pretend that it's not amnesty if he's legalizing 12 million people [who are] here illegally."
Cruz also accused Trump of latching onto the issue of illegal immigration for political gain. Cruz said Trump was notably absent during the battle over the âGang of Eightâ immigration reform bill in 2013.
"I would note at that time, right in the middle of the fight, Donald Trump was publicly supporting amnesty. He was supporting Marco Rubio's Dream Act," Cruz said. "He was criticizing Mitt Romney for being too tough on immigration. That's where Donald Trump was in 2013. Now, when he launched his campaign for president, suddenly he discovered illegal immigration was a problem."

.... Cruz really needs to understand and realize that people really love Mr. Trump a whole lot more than him .... and that Mr. Trump’s Immigration policy will be popular because ..... people love Mr. Trump. Sure there may be a few problems with it but people will love the way he does amazing things. It will be amazing great and wonderful!
Next thing you know, Cruz will claim he was against the war just like Trump! !!!! Bastard, wait, what, newsflash, Trump supported the war, .... doesn’t deny comments. .
What desperate bull$hit.
Typical Tediban.
Like Eric Trump said, they’ll pretty much bring them right back in...amnesty. By the way, by entering the country they’re breaking numerous laws i.e. they’re all bad.
Exactly, because we know the media goes out of their way to ignore Trump, juts like they ignored Obama. Absolutely no vetting whatsoever of Trump. /SARCASM

So I guess Trump and his son (Nov. 2015) just make it up as they go too?
Excerpt:
“In it [the interview], he highlights Eric Trumpâs description of his father’s immigration plan:
“The point isnât just deporting them, it’s deporting them and letting them back in legally. He’s been so clear about that and I know the liberal media wants to misconstrue it, but its deporting them and letting them back legally.”
Which echoes Donaldâs previous comments:
“I would get people out and then have an expedited way of getting them back into the country so they can be legalâ¦. A lot of these people are helping us ⦠and sometimes it’s jobs a citizen of the United States doesn’t want to do. I want to move ‘em out, and we’re going to move ‘em back in and let them be legal.”
Ive never seen Cruz say that illegals are mostly bad. I get that impression only from candidate Trump.
“That’s right. Under Trump’s immigration plan, almost all of the 11 million illegal aliens (save for a small minority with criminal records) will get to return and get permanent legal status to stay here in America.
Trump supports amnesty.
On Fox News on November 12, Trump’s son Eric expressed frustration that the media overlooks this:
The point isn’t just deporting them, it’s deporting them and letting them back in legally. Heâs been so clear about that and I know the liberal media wants to misconstrue it, but it’s deporting them and letting them back legally.
Eric Trump is right. His father has been crystal clear that he wants all the illegals to return and live in America.”
How do you know what a person's position is when they speak out of both sides of their mouth?
I guess you either cannot read or understand the English language. You are lying about Cruz as he has talked about illegal immigration since 2011 and he has said in plain English, “they all go back and don’t get to come back”. He even has his immigration plan on his website. Now, if you can read, go read it and then go read donnie’s program and show me where donnies says they get deported.
That is all, you may go and get back to me when you read them both. Otherwise you are competing to be the worlds biggest liar behind donnie.
You understand that changing the law to allow people who broke into our country illegally to reenter without penalty is making them “legal”.
Congress could make them all legal overnight - by simply changing the law. So “legally” is whatever you make the law and not all that meaningful after the fact.
The one who flies under the radar is Teddy, which works to his advantage - because the closer people look at him the more they realize how creepy he is.
Trump has been hammered from every side for a long time. Lets see Mr TPA stand up to that level of scrutiny, eh?
Not going to work.
Galatians 5
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Trump has never advocated a situation wherein as soon as you go home you can come back immediately as a citizen. Front of the line amnesty with citizenship is not DJTs position, and Ted knows it.
Yet, that’s what Ted, in the quote, is assigning to Trump as a position.
That’s spin at best, and a lie at worst.
I imagine whom you favor will color your opinion of whether this is just hard knock politics or lying out of desperation.
The pushers of touchback amnesty said the same thing — “Oh, they’ll get in the back of the line.” It never happens, and it won’t with Trump.
He needs them to build his buildings.
It takes over a decade to get in legally - just ask my brother in law who is in China waiting. His visa was approved years ago.
"The point isn't just deporting them, it's deporting them and letting them back in legally.
Which echoes Donald's previous comments:
"A lot of these people are helping us and sometimes it's jobs a citizen of the United States doesn't want to do. I want to move 'em out, and we're going to move 'em back in and let them be legal."
He's said time and again that farm workers or jobs these people are doing exclusively need to be done and he would bring them back with work visas. LEGALLY!
Work visas are not amnesty and doesn’t legalize them. But they enter the country legally.
