A Minnesota photographer captured a dramatic show on Lake Superior last week as massive sheets of ice met the shoreline and shattered.
Dawn M. LaPointe shared the hypnotic video on Feb. 13 2016, on the Radiant Spirit Gallery Facebook page.
In her post, LaPointe says she filmed the shattering ice near Duluth, Minn., for two hours in frigid conditions, ranging from minus-8 degrees to 3 degrees. That's minus-20 degrees to minus-8 degrees with windchill.

The shore is a place of gradients. Gradient is the Elixir of Youth.
do u remember the last yr or 2 when they said it was super thick.
The weather, not the moonbats.
“That’s minus-20 degrees to minus-8 degrees with windchill.”
That’s stupid. Windchill has nothing to do with anything other than mammals.
Wow. I filmed a small lake in MO that had ice chips floating in it and the wind made it sound like chimes. This is powerfully beautiful.
I love Texas, It’s 7pm, I think it’s about 70, we got the windows open and I’m in a tee shirt.
Minnesota winter weather for me, nah
I thought for sure they were going to blame this on Climate Change. Glad to see it wasn’t.
The film maker is a mammal, no? Dedicated.
I’d imagine you could get injured standing too close, ice that thick under that much pressure is eventually going to wing a sharp shard or two a fair distance away, instead of just continually piling up in larger chunks.
Turned out the nighttime low was 28.
I've biked to work in colder weather than that.
Proof of Global Warming! It is clearly getting warmer. In less than six months there may be no ice left on Lake Superior!
Yeah I love ice. I like the sound of the lake freezing on super cold nights. I can hear it when I’m laying in bed.
funny u say that I bring my dogs in at less than 32. Not in the house but warmed shelter.
Hey if it’s below 60 here I start adding sweatshirts. At 30 I long for yankee thermal underwear and at least 2 sweats.
The Alaska pipeline, or ND fracking, nah, no way.
I’d rather hear crickets and frogs
Please stop saying 28, it gives me the shivers just thinking about it
It hit 60 degrees here today in southern michigan but we’ve had a steady 40mph wind blowing all day.
Nice lullaby. Like a light rain on a tin roof.
Yep, I’m with you.
My blood flows warm, with red wine, spaghetti sauce and Southern love.
There ya go 60 in Mi it must ne global warming
