This is blasphemy and should be zotted by God.

Ugh, what has happened to our game?

The “ designated hitter” is, was, and ever shall be an abomination. The American League should ditch it. Their pitchers should man up and swing a bat.

I like the DH. I would rather see runs scored than pitchers beaned.

Jim Bunning hit a double during his perfect game on Father’s Day 1964.

http://www.foxsports.com/ohio/story/50th-anniversary-jim-bunning-father-s-day-perfect-game-philadelphia-phillies-new-york-mets-061314

He batted while pitching A PERFECT GAME.

I clearly remember him, in later years, growling about wussified pitchers who couldn’t be bothered to pitch more than an inning in an All Star game.

This conservative believes the DH is a commie ploy to ruin America’s game.

How about adopting the GH (Gay Hitter). Let him prance up to the Batter’s Box.

The DH is the abomination that causes designation. The National League game is much more interesting.

No.

Time for AL to dump it. But the union would freak.

If MLB wants the DH so bad, why not have all DH?

Nine offensive players and nine defensive players

Wrong, it’s time for the AL to abandon the stupidest rule in the books. The DH is an abomination, players that can’t play on both sides of the plate should be out of the league.

The more pressing issue, however, is one of fairness and competitiveness.

If so, then the AL should ban the DH. That won't happen, because AL teams and their fans like it, and because it keeps over-the-hill players who can't field but can still swing a bat employed, which the players union loves. But there's no need for the NL to institute this corruption of the game.

Well, few things bring out passionate opinions like the issue of the designated hitter in baseball. Or the lack of same in the National League.

Another such endless debate without resolution is : Ginger or Mary Anne, for those who remember Gilligan’s Island.

Like I said in an earlier post, if they want to increase overall competitiveness they should make baseball more like football, i.e. each club has three teams:

1. Batters
2. Base runners/stealers
3. Defense

That way each player can hone their one set of skills and not waste time or energy on the other skills. If you have the occasional "Bo Knows" who can bat and run fast or bat and field balls then great, but otherwise have just a bunch of specialists.

Of course that would be a total abomination, but if we're gonna go down that path with a DH, why not go all the way to the absurd conclusion?
