".....Trump has argued that Democrats could bring a lawsuit against Cruz serving in the White House because of his birth in Canada to an American mother.
When asked by Fox Business Network moderator Neil Cavuto why he wanted to bring the issue up now, Trump was open about the fact that it was because of Cruz's rising poll numbers.
"Because now he's doing a little bit better. No, I didn't care before, it's true," Trump said to boos from the audience.
Cruz pushed back once again by noting his service as Texas's solicitor general.
"I've spent my entire life defending the Constitution before the U.S. Supreme Court and I'll tell you, I'm not going to be taking legal advice from Donald Trump," he said.
When Trump noted that his former Harvard Law professor Lawrence Tribe agrees with him, Cruz brushed that aside too.
"Let me tell you who Larry Tribe is - he's a left-wing, judicial activist, Harvard law professor who was Al Gore's lawyer in Bush v. Gore, he's a major Hillary Clinton supporter and there's a reason why Hillary's supporters are echoing Donald's attacks on me - because Hillary wants to face Donald Trump in the general election," he said.
"If this all works out, I'm happy to consider naming you as VP so if you happen to be right, you can get the top job at the end of the day," Cruz joked.
Trump said he'd likely keep building buildings in such a scenario."
I don't think he has a broad enough appeal to win at this time however.
IMO if he runs as Trump's VP he is almost certain to win the top spot after a single Trump term. (I don't think DJT would want a 2nd term)
Go Trump!!
Go Cruz!!
You must have watched a different debate, I saw Ted Cruz double down on his abominable ‘New York values’ gambit, and the crowd didn’t go for it, but whatever gets you through the night CW, if you’re beginning to like Cruz, that is a dangerous sign, considering your kiss of death which resulted in Rick Perry and Scott Walker flaming out, you do recall that don’t you? LOL

Except Trump is right, Cruz is not a natural born citizen. Trump is.
Cruz was so brilliant against Cruz that Cruz looked like a deer in the headlights and even applauded Trump responses.
Cruz was served to be honest.
If i ignore all the political hypno rants from all candidates i hear Donald Trump saying what NEEDS and WILL be done when he gets elected.
I’m saying that i absolutely hate the politucal oratory manner thats become the norm. They think they are Pied Pipers. They speak in a manner of using buzzwords, key words for emotion and sentences that just go in circles.
Trump wins on the “do anything, say anything” approach. Going full birther - something that only worked previously as a scam - shows Trump has severe insincerity in the things he says. His word is and his loyalty are situational, like his ethics. He’s cynical about donations and politics in general, and shows his true colors as a wife-shucking, Clinton-funding, abortion-supporting, money-grubbing phony.
Thought Trump was strong second-Cruz definitely won debate.
Trump looked very uncomfortable at that.
Nor at all. His response as usual was perfect; he agreed. After all why talk about it if it looked like Cruz had no chance of winning. Now that he has maybe a 4 or 5 percent chance, it merits talking about. And his example that he might want Cruz as a running mate, but he can't pick him with that hanging over Cruz was some brilliant jiu-jitsu.
Cruz was overall very good too, though Rubio was correct about his horrible VAT tax idea.
Since September, the Constitution hasn't changed, but the poll numbers have.Really highlights that whole political opportunist flip-flop thing that defines Trump.
I have the debate recorded to watch later, but that is a just plain stupid remark. Trump's mother naturalized four years before he was born, making Trump an undoubtedly natural born child of two citizens.
Remarks like that may play well in the moment, but they often blow back worse a day or two later when people get to ponder them a little longer.

Cruz has nothing to worry about, eh?
Why do these “Cruz won the debate” stories all sound like they were Why written last week and sat waiting for 11:15 EST to be posted?
Boy this guy isn’t biased is he.
The rest of us saw Cruz win the 'birther' exchange, Trump win the 'NY values' one. A tie between them.
Trump's response on the China tariffs and NK was the high point of the debate though so he 'won' it.
Great article. Cruz is doing just what I thought he’d do once Trump started attacking him.
For the life of me I can't understand why anyone thinks this is an "attack" on Cruz. My gawd FR and tons of others questioned Obama's credentials and it ONLY stopped when he was forced to produce a bogus birth certificate. And Obama was supported by the entire Democrat and Republican party as well as the media.
Cruz is hated by ALL 3 of them. Of COURSE they are going to go all out on this issue. It's a fricking given.
