Ted Cruz makes Donald Trump his Mitch
The American Thinker ^ | January 15, 2016 | Ed Straker

Posted on 01/15/2016 12:03:27 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Ted Cruz showed remarkable fighting spirit in the Republican presidential debate last night, lacing Donald Trump with the same kind of brilliant and witty lines that he's used in his fights against Mitch McConnell.

When Trump's bogus charges against Cruz's eligibility to be president were raised, Cruz turned the tables on him, remarking that Trump had no problems with his eligibility several months earlier, giving this incredible one liner:

Since September, the Constitution hasn't changed, but the poll numbers have.

Trump looked very uncomfortable at that. But Cruz was just beginning. He even pointed out that Trump's own mother was not a "natural born" citizen, and that the same tinfoil hat crowd challenging his own eligibility could challenge Trump's. The crowd roared with laughter.

When Cruz pressed Trump on why he was pushing this issue now, Trump admitted it was because Cruz was doing better in the polls, and the crowd roared.

The audience was clearly on Cruz's side, booing Trump not once, but several times when Trump pushed his birther argument.

Cruz also made the point that Trump was relying on Harvard Law professor Larry Tribe, a far leftist who supports Hillary Clinton for president.

Trump was made to look small and petty as Cruz came out as the first candidate to challenge Trump in a debate and beat him.

Why does this remind me of Rodney Dangerfield, in the movie Back to School, when he starts discussing constructing a building in New Jersey?

I don’t think money is the problem here now. I think there will be enough for either. I think the money aspect of this is what Democrats and Establishment Republicans so worried. Their caches of PAC money bombs aren’t working for Jeb Bush, nor does it seem that it is doing Hillary Clinton any good, either.

The problems with their advocacy are more fundamental than money, and I think that translates from a feeling of betrayal by the two parties and the government they run against normal, working, tax paying Americans tired of being lied to, shat upon, and made the bad guy the world over.

I thought the only three that did well (don't like all three myself) were Cruz, Trump and Rubio. Christie did fairly well too.

The idea that Cruz schooled Trump is fatuous. It was a draw at best.

As to polls: Check Drudge if you want a GOP on line poll that's worth something.

This is an open forum and I hope we can discuss these things in a rational, adult manner.
No, that was gone in 2015 BT (before Trump).

The last semi-sane nomination sanity on FR was 2008. The FR insanity that hatches during primaries since then has nothing to do with Trump.

JMHO.

The entire Ted Cruz - Donald Trump ACT was a brilliant masterpiece ....

they DEVOURED over 7:30 minutes of debate time with their ACT ...

while Kasich, Marco, Jeb Christy and Ben Carson were condemned to SILENCE ...

meanwhile Ted Cruz for the FIRST TIME showed his comic genius, with Donald Trump as the straight man ...

finally, they took the opportunity to select each other as their Vice Presidential candidate ...

Sheer political genius !!!!

You seem bent on using old-school, thread disruption tactics to hijack threads you find uncomfortable.
It's what you do.

No.

That is how you try to paint ANYONE who won't rubber stamp your Trump-hating agenda and all of your anxious hand wringing, wailing and weeping. Last night for example, you tried to play that "oh, mkjessup has anger issues", which clearly demonstrates how you are talking out of the rear end of your female derriere, while failing to see in your OWN personality the pathological hatred and bitterness towards Trump which is based in your own "anger issues" against HIM, why?

He knocked out two of your favorite boys and that is why you will sit home on election day if Trump is the nominee.

And of course your little parrot sitting on your metaphorical shoulder aka 'libbylu' flies in to squawk in your defense any time it appears that you're getting the well deserved pasting from other FReepers who refuse to roll over and tolerate your nonsense.

Now there is your Friday morning analysis, and I won't even invoice you for my services because that's "just the kinda guy I am".

Enjoy your day.

Exactly, and he’ll have no problem changing his mind and calling all of us stupid, weak, jerks, or whatever schoolyard insult his boorish little brain comes up with. He’ll turn on us as quickly as he turned on his liberal pals, like the Clintons, and laugh at us the same way he laughs at those politicians he cynically bought for his business interest. Trusting Trump to remain a conservative true to our values is like trusting that Bill Clinton will remain faithful to Hillary. You don’t just become a conservative because you want to be president. Mouthing a few slogans doesn’t make you a leader.

Using a purist view, Cruz is not eligible because his father’s citizenship is the one that matters- wife mother didnt count. Neither would Trumps mother.

...if you’re beginning to like Cruz, that is a dangerous sign, considering your kiss of death which resulted in Rick Perry and Scott Walker flaming out, you do recall that don’t you? LOL

That’s what I’m thinking. It’s the kiss-o-death! ;-)
