As food prices balloon across Canada, grocers say they are coping with a reported increase in meat product thefts.
According to figures released by Statistics Canada in November, numerous types and cuts of meat have seen significant cost increases since 2014. The cost of beef is also predicted to rise another four per cent this year.

So people aren’t starving.
They just don’t want to pay for the sirloin steak.

Every essential item seems to be getting more expensive, all across the world, and yet commodities are dropping, income is scarce and therefore demand ought to be weak.

I guess Hillary shouldn’t visit Canada for a while. She’d make a tough but large Rump Roast.

Some imported food costs 40% more than it did just a few years ago. Canada grows most of its own meat, and that helps. Oranges, etc., are another matter.
But, hey — the Greenback goes 40% further here now; so it’s great for tourists.

Maybe it was 30 years ago ....we had a big price increase for beef and my butcher brought in horse meat. I tried it...didn’t particularly like it, although it was cheaper ...less flavorful than venison. Maybe it was the way I prepared it.
I wonder, if poaching will become a problem .

Spent the last month in Australia, very cheap food prices, cheaper still were places like KFC and Subway.
And the food was better.
But if your life centers around the most machismo of rv vehicles from a dually truck or a Southwind class A forget it in Oz, too few and too much, frankly all vehicles are downsized but food is oversized, you buy at the market per kilo, not by pound.

Elect a Socialist, economies tank - it has always been thus.
Un-educated South American populations keep falling for it, but would expect a 1st World populace like Canada to know better.

State property. Will the state allow it? I think they would
much rather their subjects go vegan and loose a little
weight than to allow them to hunt for themselves. The last
thing Canaduh needs is any show of independence and self
preservation in their stock of perfectly conditioned serfs.

I wonder, if poaching will become a problem I doubt it. Poaching is a lot of work. The people stealing meat really don't like work.
