Due to really bad family dysfunction I'm staying at my apartment alone on Christmas. It's the most difficult thing one can do. You just never, ever adjust to it.
Many people are alone, through no fault of our own. It's where life brought us. Don't led the sadness define your day. Best wishes for a good holiday. Make it one that in small ways enriches those around you and you use to remember the good of times past, have hopes for the future, and accept and enhance what's good in the present.
Find another alone on Christmas person and take them out for dinner. Maybe a homeless person.

If you are a member of a church, talk to your pastor or priest about organizing a small pot luck dinner of other members who are also alone for Christmas.
Posting on Free Republic is like inviting cats into your house. One will come in, kill a mouse, and then sit next to you and purr ... while another will come in, eat the meat off your plate, spew on the carpet, and leave you with a flea infestation.
If you lived near me, I’d be happy to lend you several teenagers.
Having said that, let me share with you one of the funniest things I've ever heard:
Why there is no Trumpet Christmas
If you're a musician, you'll find that funny. If you're not a musician, you'll still find it funny.
How did you decide that Free Republic was the best place to seek help? Seriesly.
Funny
Welcome here. I suggest you find a church of any affiliation you are comfortable with. Talk to the minister/pastor or whomever. Groups like Salvation Army always needs volunteer help.Volunteer to feed the homeless on that day.
I have to second that. Why did you create an account here of all places to strictly seek help for being alone on Christmas as your forum name suggests?
You did get a lot of good responses though so that shows what a great place FR is but inquiring minds would still like to know.
Yeah, I see how that would be moving. Would probably respond similarly.
I love family dysfunction and we have lots of it. It’s the glue of family. It reminds me that Christmas is not about me. It’s about my lunatic freeloading family.
Get out your newspaper and find some Christmas Eve services at a church. Make a project of a Christmas music playlist. Plan a nice meal. Rent a favorite old movie, maybe Charlie Brown. Donate a dollar to every Salvation Army kettle you see. Take the opportunity to read your Bible. You may find, if you involve God, that it’s the best Christmas ever.
My family is dysfunctional, too. Last year I did spend it alone and I loved it! Checked into a hotel, watched Christmas movies, ate too much, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Always helpful to remember, too, that Christmas is about Christ and what He did for us. Spending Christmas alone last year was a blessing for me. Set your mindset positively and make it a good holiday.
Lol. Now try “Merry Christmas”
“the middle of nowhere”??
I live there, some of the most friendly, honest, kind people live in the “middle of nowhere”.
The people in Dallas call my area the “Big Nothing”. hee hee hee
Have a Merry Christmas. Obviously you are connected to the web, so you can even live alone and not be totally isolated.
be open and honest with any friends in the area about being alone for Christmas. you might find yourself with a couple of invites to visit Christmas day.
