In what's more evidence that Donald Trump is becoming completely unhinged, he is now stooping so low as to label Tea Party favorite Ted Cruz "a bit of a maniac":
"I donât think heâs qualified to be president⦠I donât think he has the right temperament. I donât think heâs got the right judgment⦠You look at the way heâs dealt with the Senate, where he goes in there like a â you know, frankly like a little bit of a maniac. Youâre never going to get things done that way."
He added:
"Look, I built a phenomenal business. Iâm worth many, many billions of dollars. I have some of the greatest assets anywhere in the world. You canât walk into the Senate, and scream, and call people liars, and not be able to cajole and get along with people. Heâll never get anything done. And thatâs the problem with Ted."
It's rather fascinating that this is coming from the most bombastic and maniacal presidential candidate in history. Almost every single one of his proposals are downright outlandish, and he calls everyone who dares disagree with him "a loser" and worse. See how he smeared Dr. Ben Carson by calling him "pathological."
What's more, Trump's latest jabs at Cruz prove that he has no idea what real conservatives want. Cruz promised them to stand up for their values in Washington D.C., even if the establishment would hate him for it. That's exactly what he's done, and it's one of the main reasons that he's now so popular among Evangelicals, very conservative voters, and those who identify themselves with the Party.
If I was Cruz, I'd politely ask The Donald to attack me even more. After all, this will only end up helping, rather than hurting him.

Pretty obvious Trump lacks judgement based on this attack. And pretty obvious a large number of his supporters are no longer pretending to hide the fact they arenât conservative at all.
My theory is lots of trumpees don’t care. Their thought patterns are the same as Hillary’s supporters. They defend everything he says and does. They think they are riding a victory train due to early polling without a vote cast.
Great, now I can’t get that Billy Joel song out of my head. Thanks...
“He’s a maniac....maniac....on the Senate floor.....”
This interview was done on Friday I believe possibly before Ted’s tweet saying Trump is terrific. Love them both. Warning shot back for what Ted said in private on Monday. Trump/Cruz is my dream ticket.
Thanks for the info.
But man I gotta hand it to the Trump fan club here.
My attitude right now is, it’s Trump vs Cruz and may the best man win, it’s a long campaign, and we’ll see how things shake out.
Cruz argued and won lots of conservative cases in the Supreme Court around the time Trump was praising Hillary and donating to Dems.
You do realize D.C. is full of the uni-party hacks. The whole point of getting Tea Party guys in there is to start building up their numbers and eventually getting them to the presidency where they will have much more power both with executive duties and the veto power to get bills they like.
I was 9 or 10 depending when it came out.
You interpret Trump saying “C’mon Chris, he’s a little bit of a maniac” to mean Trump supports Dems, Rinos, and McConnell. OK that’s cool. You sound like a bit of a drama queen though.
Hell, I watched every minute of Cruz’s filibuster, loved it, and thought to myself “This guy’s a bit of a maniac, but I love him!”
Can you say “overreaction”?
Well-played, guys.
When Trump is threatened in the polls, he lashes out with personal attacks (ugly face, loser, low-energy, idiot, stupid, clown, etc, etc.) at each ascendant. Unfortunately, this is Trump’s schtick! Also, Trump usually tries to create a sense of excitement (ratings) for upcoming debates; maybe we’ll have a good WWE cage match this Tuesday! CNN will be happy with a made-for-TV Trump/Cruz fist-fight, and will likely try to provoke a nasty exchange.
However, where others have failed by responding in-kind to Trump’s personal down-in-the-mud attacks, Cruz, so far, has shown the discipline to not take the Donald’s bait. In addition, I would expect Cruz to be more than ready this time to filet the Donald substantively on one of his policy statements to draw a clear contrast and to demonstrate his command of the issues. The rest of the field also will all be gunning this time for both Cruz & Trump...might be some fireworks...should be fun to watch!
Why then does he speak of "reducing the attractions of entering and staying in the country"?
Why then does he speak of actions like workplace enforcement, withdrawing federal benefits and birthright citizenship?
Why then did he make illegals an economic issue, because they take jobs away from, or constrain the wages of, American citizens? Wouldn't you agree that this issue cannot be addressed by leaving the illegals in place?
It is true that Cruz has adopted a "first things first" approach to the illegal alien problem. Secure the border. And eliminate the attractions. But isn't that the kind of focus we need on the problem -- a fundamental objective that every serious person can agree with?
However, what you are contending is a total misrepresentation. I'm supporting Cruz...but I would support Trump if he's the nominee. And, while I question some of Trump's statements and positions, I have never knowingly misrepresented him.
Let's respect each other. And each other's candidate.
I’ve seen Cruz say on public interviews that Trump won’t be the nominee and that he would get support from former Trump supporters. That’s nothing new. What he said on that tape was no different than what he’s said in public before.
Trump would be a disaster with Supreme Court nominations. He doesn’t understand conservatism enough to care if a judge is conservative. He’d think the right nominee was someone “good” or “smart” which we all know is how we get screwed every time. And Trump clearly doesn’t care about social conservatism very much which is the main thing we need judges to stick to.
I’m very much fed up with Donald Trump attacking the Republican candidates when he should be attacking the heir apparent Hillary Clinton.
When the time comes I’m going to vote who I think is most capable and reliable in the Oval Office.
Even though Trump may be the head of a big organization doesn’t mean he’ll be a great leader.Right now he’s like a drive by shooter.Spraying fire at everyone but the opposition.
I hope he recognizes that soon.Because he’s going to turn off the people who are supporting him.
“Trump did not necessarily go nuclear, he just responded in kind to Cruzâs statement about him. This is politics. Politicians make political statements. That is the game.”
Ah, but I thought Trump was all about non-politics. So, you admit that the gasbag plays politics. He has already admitting to buying politicians to line his pocket. And admitted to playing with the (bankruptcy) laws to his benefit.
That’s idiotic. Sorry, but it is. Cruz has listed the bullcrap bills and amnedments they’ve killed - he and his three friends. To be frank, if the Senate was blown to smithereens during sessions, I don’t know if there are more than 4 or 5 I would care about losing. It’s a cesspool of losers on both sides of the aisle.
+1
I keep thinking 1980 because it came out the same year as the game. But I could be wrong
Trump supports expediting them back. Legally. The legally is important. What new laws has Trump proposed? Trump repeatedly says enforce our laws, secure our borders. No new legislation is required.
