ISIS Surrenders in face of Climate Change Conference

Raqqa, Syria

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.

"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."

An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.

Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."

According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.

"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."

So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

Two headed things are not that rare on this thread. :)

Looks like a comfortable place, but I bet my plumbing works better.

I’m not sure about those topiaries. Gardener making his little joke, agitating for a raise?

I told Sally she could sculpt the holly bushes at the front corners of our house, if she wants to make the effort.

The Property is owned by the National Trust. I suspect it is all accounted for in the Cunning Plan.
Variegated Holly is my favourite.

Have fun! I’ll need to do that later. First I’m going to practice racquetball with Vlad (and maybe James and Pat).

Floofy! The little critter looks pretty alert and ready for play.

Nice pics, Moosie. One wouldn’t have to worry about getting exercise in Robin Hood’s Bay. That hill would create almost the perfect backdrop for physical exercise.

And the topiary efforts in Blickling Estate look like something I can’t think of. ;o]

I would go to Walmart, but I probably won’t until tomorrow morning. This morning, I’ll just stay here and see what kind of trouble I can foment in my own back yard.

Tomorrow, if I don’t go to Walmart, I’ll walk around the property again, but not today. I have to wait and see how the walk yesterday is going to affect me. And I also want to start carrying a couple of hand weights. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to keep it up, but I’m going to try it, anyway.

I figure if I don’t have any unrealistic goals, I should be OK with the walking.

74 degrees, clear, 18%, S @ 10

Another windy day is forecast, but worse than yesterday. And I’m off to the shower.

Good morning. 57 and raining here. Vlad says his leg hurts, so we probably won’t play racquetball this morning. He can go swimming (or floating), and I can get on the elliptical and read for a while.

But first, I need to track Kathleen down and get her appropriately dressed for the weather.

I wonder if any of you remember this? Igor and I were campground hosts for the US Forest Service, and had a little RV at the top of one of the mountains in southern Utah County. We could see “Lake Thistle” from there. It was kinda sad, in a way, because Thistle was always the place to go to for a bar with atmosphere. Somewhere, I may have a picture of it.

I know what that’s like. Vlad may just be having sympathy pains for his mom. My right leg is now numb where the pain used to be. If it doesn’t start hurting again, the numbness will go away and the leg will be “normal” again.

Overcast and windy. And I’m into thinner clothes! Yay! ;o]

I hope next week, I have enough money to get my hair redone. I think too much time has passed for a freebie. This is the third week.
