ISIS Surrenders in face of Climate Change Conference

Raqqa, Syria

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.

"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."

An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.

Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."

According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.

"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."

So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

The Games Master had a simple formula for working out whether or not it was ideal weather for Rugby: Rain, Snow, Fog ,Hail, Sunshine, freezing cold , or scorching hot, perfect for Rugby. Any other conditions, No.
It has a pleasing simplicity to it..... :)

I’m sure you’ll be off by the time we get home, so I hope you have a good night and I’ll be here with kittehs in the morning.

Yes, and I’m trying to stay up as long as I can, but the bed is screaming my name, hypnotically — “’Face! You’re getting sleepy! Ver-ry sle-epy!” That’s hard to resist!

So I’ll see you in the morning!

I answered, “Oh, the usual things ... sorcery, armed mayhem, drinking the blood of my foes. How about you?”

I was surprised, actually, that he was paying enough attention to notice I’d said something a little different.

Probably the part about "armed". That sorta veers from niceness.

I need to go to Walmart: we’re almost out of cat food. Jake was out all night again. When he came in, he ate all the food, drank half a bowl of water, and spewed. Now he’s gone to bed.

I’ve considered posting half a dozen times this morning, but each time I stopped myself, because you never know what’s going to make Trump supporters freak out. Even when the topic is unrelated to the election, if they know you ever had any negative opinions of Trump, they lash out.

I don’t even go where Trump supporters are, because they remind me of athletic supporters.

Jake sounds like one of those guys who drinks all night, comes home, eats cold four-day old food then spews it up before he passes out. Poor fool, Jake. And he doesn’t even realize it!

A lot of FReepers who couldn’t stand the current Trumpmania on FR are on FB, voicing their distrust of the guy and wishing him anything but well. They are, to a man, hoping that the FBI releases it reports on Hillary, hoping the news will dampen her campaign.

It’s overcast this morning. but at 0430, it was 80 degrees, and we don’t usually see those kinds of night time temps until well into summer. So I will swap out my clothes today.

Our forecast low was 55 last night. I don’t know what the actual was, but I opened windows before bed, and it’s still pleasant indoors.

I need to work on more food prep before taking Pat and James to serve a First Communion Mass, during which I will go to the Post Office to mail the year-end tests in to the vendor.

I’m making Middle-Eastern flavored chicken salad, stuffed mini bell peppers, and orange-jalapeno pork roast.

That food sounds good! I need to go to Wally’s but I don’t feel up to it. I don’t feel like swapping out my clothes, either, but somebody’s gotta do it! Maybe I’ll find some more things to give away.

It is interesting to observe psychological phenomena from a respectful distance. When an irrational mania sweeps the country, the people affected apparently do not know that they are being affected.

They easily become convinced that these are not the droids they're looking for.

We all need to start asking ourselves, just prior to moments of decision; "What do I know, and why do I think I know it?"

Too many of us think certain thoughts simply because we were told to think them, and we didn't choose to argue for thinking it out for ourselves. Then a defense mechanism kicks in, and we defend the irrational thought as if it were our own child.

Don’t use contractions.
Never use a preposition to end a sentence with.

The longer I live, the more I believe your assessment is correct. Thankfully, I grew up in a time and place where independent thoughts and actions were encouraged. My first impulse is, "based on what I know, that statement is not logical." And of course, I'm usually right in my assessments, though I try to allow people to make informed decisions of their own by encouraging them to research "it."

Some people don't like that because it's different from what they were told to begin with. Ohwell...
