ISIS Surrenders in face of Climate Change Conference

Raqqa, Syria

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.

"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."

An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.

Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."

According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.

"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."

So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

They need to be fat because their metabolisms are so slow that they could die from hypothermia.

I am thankful that my early attempts to primate were not recorded.

Yes indeed. Those pre-tech days were better in many ways.

I wasn’t saying that it was pre-tech. It was, but I wasn’t saying it.

Among other things, we have running water now.

Oops! My bad.

OpenOffice is the software. I’ve used it for maybe 13 years. But like everything else, they do upgrades and add things and when they do that, I’m lost.

This document is still in the computer, and I don’t know how to add page numbers without messing up the whole thing. It’s the late Igor’s personal history, and he had written chapter numbers and names.

I was never able to find the icon that allowed me to add page numbers (OpenOffice) so though the pages are numbered in the computer, they aren’t numbered on the pages. Which needs to happen if I’m to keep the integrity of the document as he wrote it.

Ha-ha! Cute! One almost thinks the kitteh is being filmed with really high speed film, so he looks suspended.

Squee!

Running water is very important to me. My washing machine (center of the universe) doesn’t work without it.

Did you get a kitten?

No. The tagline is about one of the kittens from last week. I posted him on a Trump-worship thread, with the tagline as a clue ;-).

I’m going to get some cards in the mail, check James’s math from the last couple of days, and then go to my prayer group.

I got a new plastic three-drawer bin yesterday to hold some of my craft supplies. It’s also where Jake’s bed sits. The old one had broken, among other reasons due to the weight of Jake.

Good morning! I just got out of the shower and so far, I don’t feel too bad.

When the time is right, I will leave and get my hair cut. I hope.

Tomorrow is that dreaded trip into Vegas for my monthly follow-up at the pain clinic, and to pick up my new prescription for morphine. It’s amazing how well that medication works for me. :o]

Are you saying Jake is a Fat Cat? You’re just “staff,” so by squatter’s rights, the craft supply bin belongs to him, anyway.

I was in Columbia, MD yesterday so I just saw this.

Did you get an answer (which I might miss skimming what I missed)

Jake isn’t fat, but he’s large and muscular. He’s nervous about the new bin, but he’ll be happy when he realizes he can stretch out without the risk of falling off. This bin is wider than the previous one.

That’s good, about the bin being wider.

I’ve lost almost all the weight I put on when my friend from the north was here, so I am encouraged enough to keep doing what I’ve been doing and see if I can lose another 5#. And then another!

My eyes opened at about 0350 and I’m beginning to feel it, now, even though I’ve had my shower.

And I’m asking the same question I ask almost every day: What good things will this day bring?
